we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. weve decided on a new sled. we are going to get a yamaha 4stroke RX1. we have two sleds to pick from but we just dont know which to take.

the first sled is:
2003 Yamaha RX 1000 with 6000Miles

the second is:
2005 Yamaha RX 1000 with 600Miles

the delima is the 05 is $2000 more

ive heard some good and bad about both sleds, but i cant really seem to find anything on the net.

if you could tell me which is better and why. is it worth the extra $2000 for the 05? let me know

thanks in advance

Well the 03's were the first year for the 4 strokes. The 05's had better top ends i believe which would give you more mileage before the head would need to be torn down and have the valves inspected. the 05 would have 5400 km's less on it so in my opinion I would go with the 05, maybe you could talk the person down a little.

And the first ones sound more mean! If the 03 blows, you have $2k to spend to get it new again, but in the same boat, the whole chasis has the same mileage.

2007 Team Yamaha Blue Phazer FX, 96 Woody's 1.175" studs, EPI Spring kit, 4" Woody's 60*,silver skid plate, GYTR grab bumper, silver billet fuel cap, guage relocation, Venture Lite electric cooling fan, water wetter added.

The first gen also had those engine brakes which kinda suck, i think the 05's had them too though

I'd get the 05. The monoshock rear suspension is better than the proaction in the 03. The 05's have a hotter CDI box. they have a better seat, the oil consumption problems are fixed in the 05's.

With that said, there is nothing wrong with the 03, thats what I have.
