These two shots are of route 20 through town. One looking one way, then 180 degrees. Snow is large this trip, very large. There's a big Snocross event going on in town today and tomorrow. TONS of sleders ni town. They set up the Snocross course just East of town in the wide open area.
Many more pix to come...stay tuned.

Day 1 was just incredible snow wise, but lousy for picture taking. Here's a few of the better shots
 living in the moment
That me by the tree stuck with one of our crew in the in the front to show snow depth
 The MXZ Renegade lineup
SF hat made the trip of course
 Notice the hat?
 Tons of snow
Temps are dropping the next 3 days, but that also means pix will be better. It's been since I was a kid since I'e seen snow like this. The top foot is nothing but small ice crystals and there's places where it's easily over 10 feet deep.
I would almost say the three words that are sacriligious to sledders..."too much snow?" Heheyea. right.

Day 2 pix. Bright sunny COLD day
 Snow Ghosts
 2 Top
We had an incident today. Crash between two of our own sleds. "rookies." Most of the locasl I spoke with said this amount of snow by this time of a normal Winter season...extremely unusual. They have been dumped on big time and the powder is just about as good as it gets.

With this deep of snow brother, even tracks from the previous day are hard to see the following morning. This snow is about as perfect as it gets man. Years from now, I'll be talking about the radical snow in W. Yellow 2008 and how all years will be compared to it. Without fail, every local I've spoken to about the snow they get this little smirk on their face and say "yea...we have pretty good snow this year."
When am I moving out West? Probably the nanosecond I retire.

That much snow makes me super jealous. Excellent pictures too! If only I had a sled suited for riding powder, I'd take 2 weeks off work to come and ride

day 4 pix.
W. Yellow trails. (Whiskey cutoff and Black Canyon Loop)
Island Park area
 Island Park
File this little gem away folks if you're ever in the IP area. If you want literally miles and miles and miles of fresh unspoiled powder, you MUST take the Centennial Loop Trail out of Island Psrk. It skirts the Centennial mountains and is a powder riders heaven on earth. I challenge anyone to come up with a comparable place to powder ride for-ever. It's a huge valley and it doesn't appear to get much sled traffic at all. We found it by accident. None of the locals even mentioned its existence. Now I know why.

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion.
Moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut!

Pick up the latest issue of SnowTech. The editors column talks about Yellowstone and how the locals are trying to keep all sleds out......it was a very interesting article.

She took out one of the poles that had a reflector on it warning of the bridge and when she hit that, it threw her off the sled down to the bank and she rolled onto the ice. Meanwhile, the sled went airborn and landed on its side in the middle of the creek next to her. She was very lucky. We missed actually seeing the accident by less than 10 seconds.
Yea, great trip indeed!

So are you planning on riding at all when your down here in UT this weekend? We won't be riding the strawberry area at all this weekend so won't get a chance to meet up. One of the best trail systems in Utah right out of Daniel's Summit so you will have no problem finding your way around up there. For steep and deep go on the north (or east depending on how you look at it) side of highway 40, for more gentle terrain but still great riding stay on the south side.

I'm still pretty new at this, but I'd say the machines are great for being a hybrid. Plenty of power, corner on a dime but the low paddles are not for the really deep stuff. I got the 600 version to 83 MPH The 800's look very stout. They were conversation pieces wherever we went.

Yep, still planning on riding Saturday. Going to be 3 of us. Thanks for the local knowledge at Daniel's ACG. Too bad we can meet up, but maybe in the future.
