Pretty safe, except for the permanent hearing damage anyone within 500 yards of your sled suffers now.

Best part is, mine was third on line behind ripperd's (insanely loud) and erick's (loud). Mine is like butterfly's flying!!!!!

haha! Well, the vast majority of the issues were from riding the power lines and not knowing how rocky they are. I don't think much of it was from blowing corners. Then again, when you have 30+ sleds together, it is basically impossible based on probability that everyone will have a perfect weekend. That is just the nature of snowmobiling hard

Yep all the sled carnage is solely from the type of riding we were doing. Boondocking powerlines, climbing and jumping will break something when you've got that many people riding. For instance, Jonsie bent all that stuff climbing in some sand pits. One climb resulted in a small roll down the hill.
If we had rode the trails the whole time, we wouldnt have had this type of carnage, but we would have also dealt with HUNDREDS of other riders and rough conditions. The way it was, our group may have passed 12-18 people (outside of our stops at the gas stations)and got to ride in deep snow.
Be it known, if you do come on the forum ride, Your sled is subject to scraps, bruises, bends, Pine Tree Debris, etc... (I'm on a first name basis with a whole family of pine trees)

Doh! Is it just me or does the rail look tweaked too? Great pictures everyone!
Yes, the rail is twisted. I was looking at it in the truck Sunday morning and said to myself "that track looks a bit lose". Upon closer inspection I noticed the rail. I'll need to take the skid out and put the rail in a press.

So bear and festus wrecked their car? Was it pulling sleds? You had to go home in a Uhaul? How did you find a skid for your sled on the way home?
No the sled's had already been unloaded , We were coming back from buying trail passes in Finland.
Yeah Uhaul F350 with a biga$$ vanbox, more room for the part's we had to pick up.
I had already bought the skid on EBay, We were going to pick it up on the way back anyway's.
That's why I'm not at all upset about beating the other one to death

Not sure about Greasemonkey's group, but no racing was done in Ditchbanger's group, there was plenty of snow to play in instead.

Quinlan.. 1,239 miles each way for me. It was 1,113 each way for me to go to haydays If this ride was only 600 miles away I would have been there.. but looking at the destruction almost glad I wasn't, my wallet couldn't handle it

Looks like a good time was had! I'd love to hit up a group ride...too bad it's a 600 mile drive for me...
Guess I'll just have to stick with meeting people at HayDays.
600 come on it was 530ish each way for me. next year you have to come down.
It may have been 530 for you...but at 600 for me...another 50 miles and I could be in West Yellowstone again.
We'll have to see when the ride is, and how my schedule wraps around it for next year. If it fits, maybe we'll have to see. I should hopefully have my SP all done by the end of this summer too. A group ride would be a cool unveiling time for its new look...

It was a good trip with some mishaps here and there but over all I had a great time.
My sled will need some shope time to fix one handwarmer, replace the radius rod that I ghetto rigged. I also need to replace the innards of my chaincase because by the end of the day on saturday, there was some major slippage at WOT. Other than getting my rear shocks re-valved the same rate as the fronts everything else is all good!

Pulled Ericks skid out today.
Needs just a little bit of work.
A couple of more jumps and it could of been real ugly.
In need of some new hyfax.

Yeah, for sure Glen!
Indeed, looks like Erick's skid was just a little bit away from a big problem.
My sled fared good. I inspected it yesterday in the 42 degree heat here in the twin cities. My hyfax are real thin, and I got some at the dealer today. I did rip 1 lug on my track too. I also cleaned my air filters. They had alot of oil and belt dust in them. I think they may have started restricting the airflow causing a rich condition. Otherwise, every bolt was tight, no nicks or rock marks, and all 10" of carbide was still there.

So far so good with the Dragon. . . all seems to be intact. I am going through it this weekend and checking everything out. Feb. 7th thru 11th our group will be out in the Black Hills riding, so all checks need to be done this weekend.
We rode on Sunday morning and found some nice play areas. . . un-touched this year. Should have rode Sunday with us Ian! You would have loved the areas we rode. 364 miles in 2 1/2 days for us. . . not bad for all the playing and delays we had. It all made for a great time guys.
I will put together another video with photos and video taken from everybody. With my trip west, it might be a few weeks before SF 2008 video is ready. Our group got some good video of jumps, climbing and forest road riding with the helmet cam.
I'll post some older helmet cam footage I took while riding my Prox8.

All in all I had a great time but I will definitely have some summer rebuilding to do on the sled One trailing arm to replace and mount to push back forward (right side). Left side got pushed back on the powerlines when I found the boulder Bear with me guys, someday I will learn how to ride a sled Thanks again to all the guys who make this ride so smooth A special thanks to greasemonkey, wallygator, 2SEWings, and thezoo, for getting my sled back in running order Thursday night Thanks to thezoo also for taking the time to look at my mini van and working on it Saturday night Hope to see you all again next year

I noticed that somebody messed with my helmet.
I had a twelve pack of Summit on ice and couldn't waste any time loading up a sled or puting helmets away.
As far as racing goes me and theZoo lined 'em up. I'm not talking.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

For those that missed the ride. . . here is some helmet cam video of a typical small forest road.
This video is NOT from this weekend, it is 2 years old. I will post my videos when I transfer them from my video camera.
Sorry for the low quality video, I compressed the file to make it easier to upload on the the SF site.

After I got Ericks rail stripped down today, this is what it looked like
Went to where the Zoo works and borrowed their press to tweak the rail into place.
Came out pretty straight. It's all back together with new hyfax. All it needs is a new wheel.
The sled doesn't steer too good with carbides looking like this. Blasted rocks.
Tomorrow when Erick comes up we will put the skid back in so he can break it again.
