Well, I ended up trading my old sled with no engine for a 1999 XCSP 700 with a siezed engine. What I am looking to do is have the engine rebuilt but what do you look for when an engine siezes? I already have it un-siezed and it almost runs but I dont think it is going to.

It will fire once or twice on its own after pulled it seems and it smokes out the exhaust a little but wont do much else but die. It does sound like it has compression but I dont have a tester to find out how much, I might try to borrow one today and find out though. If it does have compression why wouldent it run? I figured since its been sitting for anywhere from 2-4 years it could be the carbs needed cleaning and the gas tank needs to be drained. Too bad when I was putting the main back in the last carb I cleaned I overtightened the jet and it snapped the threads off. I did get the threads out though with a flathead screwdriver but now I need to order jets. I did throw a different set of carbs on it off a 1998 700 but it still does the same thing. Everyone says it sounds like it will run but I am still thinking I would rather tear it down to be safe.

Anyways, here is a pic of the sled below. What I am wondering is what else I could do for mods to make it look better. Also are there any suspension mods? I have the Xtra 10 with the fox position sensitive shock on the back. Thanks for any help!

Forgot to add I already thought of a black headlight cover, red powermadd handguards and match the front idler in the pic to the others... Anything else?

just send me the motor, if you are looking to rebuild it and then mod it. lets start with a good overhaul with some "magic" done to the motor while we have it tore down. then after you ride it you might not need to spend money on aftermarket parts.

looks like you're on track so far. Here is what my XC 500 looked like before i sold it. I really liked how it turned out.

If you ride hard, the tunnel braces and the grip strips on the running boards are a MUST.

Madcow, if you are seriously interested in doing it, I will tear down the engine and take some pics of it to show you and see what you think. I know how to build an engine myself but I would like to see how you could get the 700 to haul depending on how much it would be. I already have HTG twin pipes with a two into one can and I am planning on the boost bottle/power pack combo everyone says wakes these sleds up on low end.

PolarisIQmn- That sled looks nasty. I dont have the fishbones, I only have the circular grip type metal treads there that someone put on. I may take into consideration on putting on tunnel braces somehow though because I have had a couple wedges that the running boards ended up bent from my normal riding and from what I understand the tunnels on our sleds are pretty much the same.

Thanks for the help so far guys!

Just an update, the pipes on the sled were full of gas when I just pulled them. It is still getting spark. Whats the verdict? No compression?
