Me and my family are looking to go ride up along the north shore this weekend, maybe in the Lutsen/Duluth area. Does anyone know how well the snow held up with the warm temps? Is there anywhere else in northern mn with decent snow?

Well, it WAS good up on the northshore this past weekend. We got a crapload of rain last night....yes, RAIN. I'd say, damn near an inch in Duluth. I don't know how this affected the northshore but they probably got it too. The roads are suicide now.

It rained up here in Finland/Silver Bay last night as well. Trails will be icy, not to mention the roads... They called off school today because the roads are so messed up.

We are also planning on coming up this weekend and riding from just north of Duluth to the Yukon or Tomahawk then up to Finland or Ely.
If anyone hears any reports on the actual trail conditions please post back. If they are going to be solid ice it doesn't sound very good.
They were calling for some snow up there today (1-3"?).....anything falling?

Everything here around Duluth are nothing but a sheet of ice. Not looking good for now.
No snow at all today, just cold and wind.
Hit +49 degrees yesterday and it is now -3 below. Crazy weather this year.

Just got back from Isabella and the snow is fine.
The trails are getting pretty beat up in spots but off trail is mint.
Did 355 miles in 2 days and had a blast.
Erick has got to quit jumping until he gets some stronger rails or learns to land straight. Bent his left rail AGAIN.
Weather was great Fri. and Sat. morning. Temps. dropped like a rock Sat. afternoon.

We're thinking of leaving tommorow morning. How is it up there? Who has decent snow within 2 hours of duluth?

http://www.hardcoresledder.com/forums/in...pic=319801 - Pics from Wednesday-Friday last week, up by Grand Marais and the Gunflint. Around my house in Finland the trails have bare spots from where the sun has pounded them.
I recommend going up to Grand Marais.

Shane - thanks for the link - great pics!!! Bringing back lots of good memories for me. My grandparents lived in Grand Marais, and I still have aunts, uncles and cousins around Grand Marais and Tofte. We used to visit often, and I have lots of fond memories of the Gunflint Trail, and summers on Devils Track lake.
