Does anyone know how HP a 2000 Indy Trail has? And is it going to be a dog if I put on a longer track? I was thinking a 136" with 1.25" lugs.

not sure on the hp, but my 96 500 rmk turns a 136" just fine, forsure.
i was thinking i might go 144" but, i think it would be a little much for a 500 in the powder.

According to Polaris, they didn't make an Indy Trail in 2000. The Indy Supersport continued 2000 onward with a 550cc fan-cooled twin. 94zr700kid also has a different sled than you. He has a liquid-cooled Fuji 488cc (500) that makes around 72 to 80 hp max. You have a fan-cooled 488 making approx. 50 to 55 hp. Maybe 60 on a really cold day, but that is probably seriously pushing it. They made one in 1998 with a 15x133x1.25 track. I think that it is certainly possible, but you will be VERY tapped for HP. I hate to say it, but most people think they are pretty doggy with the 121. . . Don't expect to be passing anyone. You might want to just consider putting on a little longer lugged track. I replaced the .5in long lug track on my 1983 Indy Trail with a 1.2 or something. and it made a BIG difference in off trail riding. It will now stay next to my Indy 500XC off the trail to about 35 mph or so.

Oh. My 85 is a indy trail. The 2000 is a 500 Indy Classic liquid cooled. It pretty good with me on it. I weigh 185 lbs. And it gets up to 65 MPH pretty quit and I'm about 2000 rpm from redline. Even with 2 people on it I have never had it run out of power on hills.

My 2000 SS has the 550 fan, and I would guess it's putting out around 60-65 HP.
