Well my buddy rents a house from my parents, my sled is sitting in the garage there. He got drunk and decided to call me and tell me that my dad was there yesterday putting in a new gasket kit for me, I really didn't expect him to do it. I don't even know how to express my appreciation. I'm going home for 3 days in February. So now instead of spending half a day rebuilding it, I can just go pick it up and ride.

The thing that gets me most about this is that my dad is handicapped. He recently lost his leg in a car accident and really doesn't get around very well. But he's making the best of it. It was supposed to be a surprise, I guess he felt bad because I just spent about $400 rebuilding it and then blew a base gasket, and I really don't have time or a place to work on it unless I am back in Maine. He just wants me to enjoy the little time I get to go home for. I really appreciate what he did, hopefully I'll be able to do something to repay the favor. Maybe I can wax his vette for him or something.

Very cool story. My ol'man is like that. Do things for him in return . I like hunting with my dad so much I just picked up camo bibs and 5 in 1 parka. Usually don't spend that much on his birthday but what the heck.

(PM me information about the Vette, my family is a vette family also)

Maybe your dad wanted to go out and ride the sled! haha

If its a surprise? acted surprise, to bad the drunk had to ruin it.

Sorry to hear about your father, must be hard for him.

Sounds like you have a cool father, think of something he really like to do. Does your Dad ride sleds??? A guy I know, his father in law lost his arm and still rides sleds all the time.

My dad used to ride sleds, I don't think hes too fond of the cold anymore though. He had a '99 indy 340 that he used to just cruise around the yard and in the fields but he just sold it to one of his friends a few weeks ago for his 9 year old son to ride.
The covette is a '61, I've been yelled at just for looking at it before, no joke.
dads 61 vette
dads 61 vette
