I am seriously considering a new sled, and have been doing some homework on whats currently out there. My biggest concern is fuel economy since gas is a premium here ($4.80/gallon). Weight would come in a close second but not by much.

I've checked out current technology 2-strokes and the big four 4-strokes and found some fuel economy stats and I'm leaning towards 4-strokes from Yamaha since they seem to have thier 'stuff' together. From what I've found out manufactures have some of their 4-stroke pluses being the economy but magazine report numbers sort of compare to current 2-stroke numbers (SDI, Clean Fire Direct, etc.).

Any Yami owners out there with either an Apex GT or '08 Vector LTX with real world fuel numbers??? I'm partial to the 'crossover' types, 136 track length. Thanks in advance.

All I know is that with my vector in a good snow day I will be burning just as much as fuel as any other 2 stroke. Actually had to add a gallon or so yesterday to make it back to the trailer. On the trails they are awesome, but when your working them, they suck it down.

I have an 08 Vector LTX GT and the worst I have gotten is just below 17 mpg and the best I have seen is 22.10 mpg. I am averaging 17-18 playing, 18-20 trail riding and 20+ if I take it real easy.

BTW you should check out www.totallyamaha.com there's alot of great info there.

that's what i've been hearing/learing.. good MPG on trail rides but gotta watch the zoom-meter

radianguy.. that's the exact model i was interested in.. hows the ride compare on trail vs. off trail?? i'm more interested in a 4strokes in a 136-144 for off trail riding but am a little concerned about the LTX weight vs. something like a '97 Indy 500 SKS.. I've gotten stuck a couple times with my extended '03 500 and was able to get myself out with a little blood, sweat and tears (and a few well placed explatives).. but if the fuel consumption is that good for trail riding I just might move over to a Yami.. and let those with more back then brains go before me..

I ride an 06 Apex GT and my wife rides an 06 Apex ER. I get about 15 mpg and she gets close to 17 due to our riding differences. I'm on it most of the time and she just cruises. It has a lot to do with how much you hammer it, the snow conditions, etc. Our previous sleds an 05 Vector and Rage got about 17 to 20 depending on the riding style and conditions.
Hope this helps
