Ok, I have now broken motor mounts 4 times on my 01 XCR 800. It has a factory torque stop on it, I had adjusted it so that it was tight to the cylinder and I stopped breaking mounts 2 years ago, and after this past weekend I broke the 2 fronts and twisted the stock torque stop into a pretzel also, before I realized what had happend the motor twisted so much that the exhaust actually burned a hole in the hood. I would like to solve this problem once and for all. Is there better than stock mounts? Where do I get them? Is there better than stock torque stops? Where do I get it and how does it install. Any help would be appreciated. FYI - I am also looking for a Gen II Hood now!

you need an aftermarket torque stop that goes from the front left of the engine to the front left shock tower.
nothing goes like 3 holes!!

Yep madcow is correct. Most place want $75 for them. I found one for $45.
Simple install, holes are already in the block, you just have to drill 2 holes in shock tower. Reichards gives you an instruction sheet.

It may also necessary to put one on the right side as well. I've seen one xcr break a mount with the left side limiter only, and it did damage. It was a higher hp motor so it may be an extreme example.

get one from slp I think they make the nicest one. I had one on my edge with a triple in it, the sled used to break mounts all the time till I put their dog bone mount on and I havent had a mount break since. By the way you will feel a little more vibration from your sled with that mount. nothing you dont get used to quick. Also make sure you use a grade 8 bolt on the slp mount where it bolts to the case because I snapped off grade 5 bolts in my case

Yes...as stated SLP sells a few nice pieces including better motor mounts for that sled. Between motor mounts and torque/push arms you should be in good shape.
Polaris...it IS the way out!

Guys on HCS were saying that they were snapping the Slp ones because they are too rigid, thats why I went with the RPC one. It's a rip off what Slp wants for them too.

Thanks guy's - I ordered the stop from www.rpcracing.com, they are on a 3 week back order, but my season is over anyhow - new baby at home. I also ordered 90 hardened motor mounts hopefully this will solve my issues. Anyone know where I could find a hood?

My first one was a HTG/Polaris one. It let go first ride this year, had about 5000-6000 miles on it.Put factory mounts back i.
I know Whal has 90 durometer mounts aqnd the old stlye had the bolt though it.
Surprise you burned the hood! Both times my mounts have torn, it's an ulgy mess that happens fast.
Will need a Belt guard and footwell replacement this summer.
When in Doubt, gas it

the slp one is junk. the rubber is cheap. I drilled out a broken motor mount and put that in the bracket and ran a bolt through it.

madcow are you talking about the torque arm from slp that bolts to the front of the case? Mine on my triple edge took a beating and I never had a problem with it. I have also seen people convert their motor mounts from the new style mounts to the old sandwich style wich is what I think you are talking about and that seemed to work pretty good also.
