So I went up north for a few days, I just got home and northern Maine is awesome! A buddy of mine on his f7 and me on my 440 fan went boondocking, yes I said boondocking on the 440 haha. Well first off I noticed that after sidehilling I got black streaks on my hifax, is that ok or not? The other thing is that I figured that I needed a bigger track because I could only get so far before digging in and almost getting stuck with my 121, and the bumps on the trail killed me. I sold a sled with a 133 inch track on it, it was a 1990 would that supension fit on my sled? I was thinking maybe a 1 inch track and a drop bracket to have a meaner looking stance. Now I know that that suspension isn't that great, but I dont care, I just want something to bridge bumps in the trail and and maybe go a little better in the deeper snow. I also want to drop in a 500 or 550 fan motor, how hard is it and what gears should I run in it?
Thanks, Ryan

Yeah im not sure about throwning that on a 440 fan.. But something with a motor such as a 600cc would work pretty well.

That motor would have a good chance of blowin up on ya bro. If you want a long track you might just be better of tradin up IMO

heres my sons 440,but it has more hp than your fanner.you could do a 136 by 1" lug with your fanner and be ok IMO. i mean C'mon they have longtracks on bravos, and 340 touring sleds and they pull the longer tracks fine.

Its not all if they can pull the track along or not, I think you could make it happen just fine with say a gearing drop to get your torque back to really spin that track well enough, but in general a 440 fan won't make a great long track sled and its always cheaper to buy the larger engine sled and get your money out of the sled you have.

yeah, you guys are right about getting a bigger sled and it being easier. I just dotn have that kind of money, I would just be able to have enough money to get a 500 or 550 fan to drop in and be good with it. I think it would cost a lot more to drop in a liquid cooled 600 in a fan chassis than a fan in a fan chassis.
