Heading to West Yellowstone 2 weeks from today. Just a couple of questions.... from people that have been there-
Any spots that I HAVE to see/ride in?
I don't think I've ever been as stoked as I am right now to go riding; this isn't goin to be a huge let-down, is it? I'm riding with 3 very good friends and renting '08 RMK's. So hopefully these are 2 less things I don't have to worry about. Any opinions on the riding out there will be greatly appericated.

Well of course two top is must stop for a scenic view. Id do that on your clearest day there. For some hill climbing lionshead(behind the super 8 hotel) is a popular spot. But you have to follow a pretty rough trail to get to the open hills. I only get out there once a year and im sure other people can follow up on this better than me but thats a start. And um no, you wont be dissappointed.

Best riding i've ever had this year. You should go to Lions Head and Big Sky. When I was out there, we didn't get a chance to go to Two Top, but i heard it was nice up there. If you do go to Lions Head, right when you get there, there is a gully with a steep hill with 2 or 3 ledges on it. That is where I almost lost my sled. Too much power for too short of lugs. I spun out and I tried to turn it around myself and it rolled back 40' before I could stop it. It damn near rolled all the way down the hill.

I need big jugs on my sled, cuz my girl doesn't.

Big Sky for great hills in what seems like the middle of nowhere. Go just past where the groomed trail ends and you're in heaven. Lots of changes in elevation on there way there too.

Two top is awesome and the Snow ghosts are a must see. Agreed, best viewed when it's a clear day. If you get lucky, you can see the Tetons from there.

The Sawtelle trail is rarely groomed but it takes you through a forest with plenty of open places for jumping off trail. While you're out near Island Park, if you want miles and miles of powder and rolling meadows The Centennial Loop trail is a must see. The Black Canton Loop is a great run that takes you right into Island Park. Lions Head is where everyone goes to hill climb, but it does get crowded at times.

I say just hit Two Top drop over towards Island Park!!!There is so many places to boondock you will not know what to do!I live bout 100 miles south of West Yellowstone and ride Island Park all the time!I dont even waste time going into West!Have fun and get to know the locals they will usually tell you where to go ride or even let you join them in their groups.
