whut can i use to clean aluminum? - any tricks?tips? anything would be sweet started by michelle

i pulled my motor, and i wanna clean it, what can i use on the aluminum to make it look almost new?

i realised i spelt clean* wrong in the title, i dont know how to fix it.. Fixed title -Quinlan

well, depending on how much you want to tear it down,

Engine degreaser
Simple green,
Brake Cleaner

Any of those will get crud off, I would get anything greasy or grease+dirt scraped off with a plastic puddy knife, then I'd start with simple green and a brush since it smells good, works pretty well and isn't going to make any problems for you with disposal.

A good brushing and hot water and you'll get most of it off.

Then i'd do a quick squirt of brake cleaner anywhere it is being more stubborn.

well, its clean, but like to bet the "aluminum" color back, cause its like DARKKK grey and my new jug is.. new lol it dosent match and it looks funny

hmm, i just tried oven cleaner on a small spot and it worked pretty good, but can that hurt my seals?

Use mothers aluminum polish available at any auto parts store.

You do realize it's gonna look tarnished after a ride or two right??

oxi-solv will make it look new and not shiny like it has been polished. works well, spray on hose off kinda deal.
