well im a polaris boy, but im making the switch this fall if i can find the right sled. i saw someone mention that race 440's were real finicky and needed to be jetted every time the temp changes. is this true? do they need a lot of attention? how reliable would a 440 motor be? could a 440 be a trail ridable sled or no?
thanks

I ride a mxzx 440 but it is in the zx chassis. Mine isnt finicky at all. I love mine and would buy another one. You will want the LC heads on it so you can run pump gas. The shocks are kind of stiff on them but that can easily be changed to suit your type of riding.

thats what i planned on doing, but people say they don't get good gas mileage. IDK, im gonna have to wait and see what the dealers have for sleds so i can trade in

I have a 2003 MXZX trail converted 440. They are are little more finicky than stockers but nothing to bad. Gas mileage is about the only thing that sux but the sled makes up for up. Do not buy one of these sleds if u don't like tweaking on your sleds before and after you ride. As for mileage look for 6-10mpg depending on how hard you ride and where you ride.

Don't buy a ski-doo mxzx440 because I know a few guys here have it whether its a '04 or a '07 they love Spark plugs they use up alot of plugs.
