crank bering removal? - never replaced crank berings befor! started by classicfanatic

im goin to have to replace the out pto side crank bering/berings in my phazer. what do i need to know?

You'll have to have a professional do it,cuz you dont want to risk getting the crank out of phase.

not true.
if he's just replacing the pto side end bearings, the crank does not need to be pressed apart.
simple job.
if the center/mid bearings need replacing then yes, the crank needs to be pressed apart and will have to be done by a reputable crank builder.

ya its the pto side one or ones. theres two dont know if its both. so how would i do it any way.

you need to heat up the bearing to get them to fall off. and then preheat the new bearings in oil on the stove with a thermometer, warm them to 400 degrees and drop them on. you dont want to press them on as they can marr the steel and not be perfect.
