Nice. I thought of making a shirt that simply said, "Grammer Nazi".

But I was afraid people wouldn't get the joke and say stupid crap like, "Hey dork! You spelled Grammar wrong!!"

By the way, learn your "your, you're" usage properly if you're going to correct people on correcting people.

I'm such an ass, I know.

I think out of all the major sled forums SF and SnoWest have the best info and least amount of bs and wrong answers.

Are you serious? Of all the major sled forums I feel SF has the worst tech info and the most wrong answers. I never use this site for tech info anymore because of the lack of tech info and misinformation on here.

Sad to say, I agree with the_hog. If I want to know something about my sled, I will go to Totally Yamaha and ask it. Always get real, legit answers that are helpful and coming from knowledgable people.

^^^That's probably because there are more Yamaha experts over there. There's quite a few guys that know Polaris and Cats here, but there seem to be fewer Yammi and SkiDoo experts because TY and DooTalk exist.

You need to get out more, experience new things. Theres a select few good members here that actually know something. Otherwise, there's members like Edited member's name out to protect the innocent/guilty, who know absolutely nothing about sleds

if sf was that leaniant it would end up like HCS.. a bunch of brand bashing punks

HCS has alot of info. Get into the brand/model specific forums for the good stuff. General there is a free-for-all but whatever.

Worst problem here: too much bickering....whoops might have spelled it wrong....who cares really? The only reason I come here is because it cracks me up. Most of you guys really do know it all and it's just too funny to miss out on.

^ the plus side of online bulletin boards are (1) the entertainment; (2) getting to meet some new people with common interests and (3) information to help you when you carefully discern the quality of the information and use only when you feel confident.

The downsides to online forums are (1) people say things online in a way they would not in person; (2) some people like to hear themseleves talk and ; (3) some people act like they are smarter than they are.

It used to bug me that people can't spell and use incorrect grammer, but then I decided that it is not that big of a deal. I gave myself a hug and got over it. I read the posts that I am interested in, laugh off the stupid ones, and try to learn from the people that seem to know what they are talking about. I've met some great people on a few different forums and that is what I try to focus on.

Bottom line - I can get pissed off 50 hours a week at work. I want this to be fun time. When it starts pissing me off, I stop looking.

Hmmm, well, I'll be honest I don't come here for too many answers. Of course it's been a while since I've posted something that I needed some info on. Since I've gotten my manual I just refer to it. But I think one thing that needs to happen is a digression back to the days when you ask questions first then suggest an answer. That is my biggest pet pieve is when someone just writes down one sentence that says, it this... Well, you want to explain why it's this and let that person understand something new maybe? Also part of asking questions is to know what's been tried and what steps have been taken to troubleshoot the problem. Oh my god, troubleshooting, did I just say the magic word? Well, guys we need to get back to troubleshooting, and let me spell it out to you, troubleshooting is not always taking a shot in the dark and using the process of elimination to fix your problem, because we could spend thousands on sleds if we all did that. Use your head, think of things that are happening that could eliminate certain parts or ideas...

Cause I don't give a rats about who took second or 12th for that matter your just the next loser in a long line of many losers.

I stand by my comment of more knowledge here. You just need to know who to listen to. There are a few members here who really know their stuff and if you see them respond you can take their advice. I think its pretty easy to weed out the dumbasses.

As for the comment that I need to get out more Id love too. But its kinda hard when you are isolated from everything for 3 weeks every month and the only way in or out is by plane or chopper.

I think the post ratings should be all tallied up and put on the persons profile. If you could see how many positive and negative ratings a person has it would really help.

but you know what the rating system is a joke becuase people will click positive or negetives for no reason at all. If you dont beleive me look at some of the post that have +'s and make no sense, but yet a good post that someone just didn't like got a -. Rating would only work if only modereators and admins could use it. thats my opinion anywho...

I started using this site for info on sleds, imm 22, this is basically my first year snowmobiling since i was 14. So, when i have to start working on my own stuff its good to have a place where you can ask somebody who might actually know the answer....Atleast i hope i am getting the right answers!

I like to see some fun posts on here. if you dont like the post then dont enter it. But people need to put more info on there title so we know what is actually going on in the topic. and for spelling i dont really care. as long as they arent like retarded. i have put some pointless fun posts on here. but alot of people respond. so i dont think too many people care. i do like the helpful post too. i get alot of ideas from this site.
the rating thing is a bit lame cuz i remember me and mad cow were battling it out on here. I wasn’t mad or upset by the things he said. I accidentally gave him a – rating. I really didn’t mean to and I put that right under his post. I wish you can take away the ratings you give people cuz now i feel bad.

I am less concerned with the users using the wrong form of a word vs. the user typing his words like wut ch yall gunna do bout it.

And as far as SF not having alot of tech help. Well that IMO depends on the sled. I know me and quinlan have diagnosed countless arctic cats. I can personally claim no ZRT has broke on this forum I havn't diagnosed in the end, even get PM's and emails from people from other forums and this one. Its fun and I know alot about them.

I am sure there are some guys on this site that lets say are an expert on RMK's or EXT's.. but yet they don't post or offer their advice. Untill everyone does that, a website only shines in the area that the user makes it shine in.

Sadly, there are alot of guys on here that know alot about certain things, but they don't take the time they used to to help people in the shop forum.

I think there may be a lack of info on doos and yammy's, but every question I have had with new sleds and mechanical junk on the polaris' have been answered.

On the grammar issue, I try and spell correctly but alot of the time it is just a typo, I don't see why that is a big deal. Also I have not found a snowmobile forum as active as this one.

I do the same. If I need in-depth tech help, I hit HCS for my SnoPro, and ArcticChat for my ZR. Alot of that is because of the lack of Cat guys on SF. This, in turn, can help SF though. I go there and get new info, but since I spend a LOT more time here, I can come here and explain the info I find.

I do agree with MJay in the fact that it's usually easy to pick out the BS answers from the legit ones. If you're here for awhile, you get to know the members who actually know what they are talking about.

Oh, and thanks for the props Matt.

^ Its true.. Look in the cat forum and cats in the shop. I see you, me, and blackcat throwing legit ideas and answers at people like were getting paid for it.

Then 99% of the time they take that information, say thanks, and run for the hills never to be seen again. I do not like that.

If you receive help, its only fair to give it back to someone.

I'd give more info, but that wonderful search button needs to be about 30 times larger, and blinking, so people use it. Answering the same basic stuff gets old. I especially like the people that PM me about doing a triple into a Prox. Hmmm, yea, I've got a few threads with all sorts of info and pics. If it was a specific question then no problem, but the "wat do I ned to put a tripple in2 a prx" get old.

Just because it's the internet doesn't mean spelling and grammar goes out the window. I hate going into a topic and the topic could be a person summarizing a ride, and it's all one big paragraph with no periods. That to me just shows plain stupidity. I don't know why, but when looking for information i can usually tell how serious a person is or not just by reading their sentences. If i'm reading a sentence that looks like this "ya, u culd have blew er up" or a sentence that looks like this "You may have blown it up." Which one would you rather listen to?
