I think I'm pretty set on the Audi. Either way, I'll test drive them. I got some quotes on some Audi's that were priced out by a dealer today, roughly $47,000. They come with all the things I would have put in a car had I ordered one, but the wait time for that is about three months. I can't for the life of me find any used 2008 TT's with the 3.2 and AWD....and certainly not with the options I want. The 2.0's are much easier to find, but only FWD and 50 less HP. Research, research, research. That's all I've been doing the last few days.

I'm pretty sure that Erick stated he didn't want a tin box deathtrap. He's looking for a luxury sports car.

Yea, not really digging that style though it has more horsepower and is cheaper. I've re-convinced myself again last night that I need to stick with AWD though. It snowed about two inches in Duluth...wet, sloppy, snow and we went out last night to watch a bluegrass band. Needless to say, lots of cars sliding around down the streets again, some couldn't get back up the hill from downtown and others had went off the road entirely and almost hit houses. I had absolutely no troubles in my car though.

Well Erick, had a blast today, driving the 3.2TT, looking at dealers, and the Auto Show! After checking the realistic possibilities out today, my list would go:
1. Infinty G37, but I would wait a few more months for the X to come out. For the same $ as the TT, you get more car, more features, and comfort, and the looks are sick, but the TT is sick too!
2. Audi S5, pay the extra $10k, and get the S5 over the A5, more motor, more interior styling options, sportier suspension, and better resale value! I think you will see less S5s on the street too then TTs.
3. BMW 335Xi, for about the same money, see what I said about #2. And you get 2 turbos instead of one!
4. Audi TT 3.2, the looks are great, I like the interior changes over ours, but I wasn't too fond of it, it sits taller, and I am not much for the auto-trans. But sexy cars!
For my un-realistic list:
1. Nissan GT-R, at $80k, the American Skyline basically is going to be a phenomenal car!
2. Audi R8, but prolly able to get a TTRS before the next R8 is available, perfect investment, like the R8 was. $125k new, nets you $180k private party!
3. Lotus Exige S, at $68k, would be a riot, but not practical at all!
And no, forget domestic cars, they just don't have it like European cars do, hands down, there is so much more car in Euros then domestics! Until someone spends time with a Euro, they won't understand!

All I know is that taking apart cars and comparing any american part to a german part, 9 times out of ten, I would take the german part hands down.

If you really wanna dump almost 50 grand into a new sports car (quoting the price of the audi you liked..) why not look at a shelby mustang or a newer vette or even a viper. You'll ruin all the smaller cars days in any race.

Your missing the point of NOT buying domestics.... All of those cars you listed are RWD, AWD is what he is looking for.
The outboard motor, is 300HP too, I forgot to mention that.

That outboard was simply HUGE. Wasn't it like $32,000 though?
As far as cars go...I saw a lot of cars I really liked. I'd have to say, I was most taken by surprise when I looked at the Infinity G37. If it were AWD, it would be a real player (which it is coming in apparently). I really like it as far as the interior is concerned. The exterior is nice too, but I still prefer the styling of any other Audi. I'm also seriously looking into the A5. The S5 would be great, but I need decent fuel economy and 265 ponies is enough to tide me over until I throw a turbo kit on .
I'd still very much love to get the TT though. There's just something about those cars I like. The new ones rock. I think I prefer them more than Skipponator does, but to each their own. I do prefer the interior design of the A5 over the TT though...and I'm digging those LED daytime running lights as well. I have a bunch of pictures and I'll try get some up in a different topic. Here are a few pictures at the dealer. That black car is the one we tested with the S-Tronic transmission.
 2008 TT 3.2L under hood 2008 TT 3.2L
 TT Parking TT Parking
As far as domestic cars are concerned. I didn't see anything all that interesting to me at the auto show. I will NOT get something that isn't AWD. After owning an AWD car, it's difficult to go back. It stays glued to the road so well. I'm not into big V8 gas guzzling power. I'd rather have a 4 or 6 cylinder turbo or supercharged car that is small and light, great on fuel when you want to to be, but throws you back in the seat and handles like a dream when you want to get rowdy. There were a few concept cars that I liked, but overall, not impressed with the car offerings from the domestic manufacturers in the luxury sport classes. They have great cars if you're looking to get something cheap and efficient but I'm looking for more than that.

I am very impressed with the new CTS4. I looked at quite a few of them at the auto show. The only thing is their size...a bit large for me. But I love the styling.

Damnit skip, I don't know why you had to get involved in this!!! Since you let me drive your car with the improvements you've made it's been harder and harder for me to justify getting the current 3.2 V6 TT. I'm a stickler for the looks, but what I'd really like is the TTS coming out next fall....if only I can hold off....I'd do the maintenance on my car and flash the ECU for that instant 40 to 50 HP increase. That way I can order a TTS and have it delivered in December. Tough, tough, tough decision to make. What to do oh what to do.

I sent you info on Facebook! Really, get a tune, and you will feel like your driving a whole new car, then, you can get the "actual" car that you want, and you will have saved more to get the TTS!

How about a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT? They will be out any day now and they are an awesome machine. 362 horse V8 and lots of interior room, then an exterior that is very sexy. Just my opinion, it will save you money too with the best topping out at around 33k.
