So the problem is this, the primary clutch would not come off so i disasembled all i could.Tried to use a 3 arm puller to get the remaining shaft off the crank...no go.....had to use a grinder and basicly cut it off the crank...In the process the crank got ground a bit on the taper ..

Question:Is the crank still useable or can it be repaired? Will it be out of ballance and shake like hell.....Can i run it like that?

Thanks

Dan

What kind of sled? Did ou try using the correct puller on it? I got some extra clutch's and a couple exrta cranks if you need parts.

the pto end will be ok, as long as the cut is not too deep. I've cut crank bearings off in the past and put an 1/8" gouge in the crank with no problems. It is better if the cut is inline with the crank, but shouldn't matter. Just clean up the edges and run it. Worst case, the pto end will break, but for now it's not broke, so I would run it myself. -Polaris Doc

If it's only a back yard sled, I agree with Doc. Then I would not want to walk twenty miles out off the trail do to a half ass'd fix failure!

you should have used an indicator to check the depth of where the pto crank end starts. that would have prevented any damage to the pro crank end when sawing off the clutch.
