I really don't know much about clutch but I think my problem is due to the primary clutch. I have tried a new belt but it didn't help. The sled take off great. As soon as it hits about 30mph it boggs down and stays that way. It will very slowly pick up speed. If I have room and time to hold it wide open (after I hit 30mph) I can get it up to 55-60mph and then it picks up agian and runs great. It is just that 30-55mph speed that it bogs and has NO power. I have read that these clutches shift. Could it be going from first right to the high gear? It drives just like a car going along in 1st gear and then shifting to 5th gear only no bucking or chugging. The rollers on the primary spin but feel slopy. The sled has 6,900 miles. The motor seems fine.

Any help would be great. Thank you.

What kind of belt did you try? From experience I find that the yams are fussy when it comes to belts. I know you said you tried a new one but if it was somthing other then a original yam belt it could be your trouble. If thats not the case it could be a number of things in the clutch. So the clutch would have to come off or at least take the cover off.

It is a new Yamaha belt. It had a newer Napa belt on it when I bought it. Nothing changed with the factory belt.

another place to check is your carbs... from what you've described, it sounds like your mid-range jetting is off, might be a good idea to remove carbs, clean them(replace any parts if necessary) and try again.. just a thought.

'03 Indy 500 sks (Scumpman's Kicka** Snowmachine) extended skid/track to 136" from TracksUSA, AC roller clutch, Holtzman Tempaflow, clutched and geared, 2" risers, skidplate, old Pol rack.
