Looking to buy a sled for the girlfriend. I figure this time of year might be able to get a deal on one. She's really small like 5.1" 110lbs and i'm looking for something she can handle. I'm only interested in a cat or a yamaha. Any suggestions? I have no interest in a bravo or anything that small. Thanks

I got a good deal on 99 ZL 600. My girlfriend, 15 yr old daughter, and my 11 year old son ride it. Its a very dependable fun sled for them plus its got enough power when you need it like keeping up with me the straight aways.

I've heard good things about the Phazer and you can do upgrades on it as her skill level inproves.
(That would be the 4 stroke Phazer)

like stated above, a sabercat 500 or z440 or 570 would be great. I'd opt for the newer technology in the sabercat. Its liquid, has a more rider forward chassis, and the suspension will be much better for trail riding. For yamaha, you could get her an older phazer or an sxr 500 or v-max. If i had to pick one, i'd say go cat since they have a better trail sled than yamaha does and plus, you already have a cat too!

I bought my gf a 97 Indy Sport 440 at the beginning of this season. She can easily pull start it and once I put plastic skis on it she could handle it with ease. Light throttle pull and it has a 133" track so it handles the bumps really well. It also doesnt have crazy acceleration so she doesnt get scared if she pushes the throttle too hard. She tipped it over last week while trying to sidehill onto a snowbank and she nearly died laughing. Great sled for a beginner and the price wont drop any further than what I paid for it.

My girlfriend has a 1997 Polaris Indy Lite 340cc and she can start it without me and handle it well now I just have to get her on the trials with it she should have no problem.

Phazer would be a good sled to start on. Starting would be no issue, just turn the key.

If you like Yamies stay away from the Vectors and up. They are very heavy beasts and a small person like her would have a real hard time handling one. I ride a new Vector and because of the record snowfalls we've had this year it's all I can handle and then some. I'm 5'10" 160 lbs and I've been sledding for a long time

M7 baby! Thats what I got my girlfriend, 5'4" and 120 lbs. She can ride that sled with the guys all day long. She can even outride a few of my friends. One of them even owns an XP. I don't know what the differance was between the REV and the M but she can through around that M alot better then the REV. But then again I am talking about mountain sleds and I'm guessing thats not what your after.

01-03 Z440 Sno Pro. great all around sled. I bought one for my Girlfriend and she loves it, so do my other friends that ride it when she doesnt come with. Before the 440 I had a 99 Formula Z583 She rode it but never liked it. It was a tank and didnt handle half as good as the Z440. Now she will go sledding with me anytime.
Plus its a race sled wich makes it cool.

I also bought my X Gf a sabercat lx 500 and she loved that coming off a 99 ZL 500. After we broke up I sold it. I dont recommend spending that much unless your married.

We've been together for 8 years, living together now. So i'm worried about dropping a few bucks. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Just seen an add in the buy&sell for a z370. Maybe it might be a good sled to pick up??? its a 2000 model and they're asking $2200.

I've been pretty happy riding the new phazer..

The yammies are a lil heavy, I've tipped it over a few times and its a biatch to get back upright..I weigh about 120 and just under 5'8". Other than that the power is good, accelerates just fine. I don't know what your looking for track size..or just doing trail riding. Other than that I've ridden doo's my whole life, started on a 440, to a 600, 800...I think an 06' 440 would be just fine for her..not a lot of power but just enough. I've heard a lot of issues with the XPs, but hopefully they'll be alright next year. Rev's are light and are pretty stable..to me, you couldn't go wrong with them.

Um I was with my X for guess how many Years????? 8 yrs. and we basically lived together also.

Besides I have more fun on the superduper light Z440 anyways. Feels like it has more power than the Sabercat.
If you get the 370 she will never be able to keep up even if she was as good a rider as you are, and youll be looking for a new sled really soon. 370 is a kids sled. any one would be happy with the 440. My buddie that rides mine had a 97 ZR 700 and swears the 440 feels way faster and handles 20X better.

Why dont you give her your f5 and go buy yourself something nicer. I think there is a man law somewhere about trading up and still keeping the women folk in your life happy.

Its a joke!

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor. I think the 370 would be a great starter sled. It wont scare her and itll get her use to riding. Itll do 90-100km/h easily and thats plenty fast. And once shes comfortable you could sell it for the same price and upgrade to something bigger. 2200 seems like a great price for NF.

I'm not giving her the f5, i love it. Plus she has tried it and is afraid of it. The f5 has to rev very high (5000rpm) just to engage. To her is scary and she doesn't like it. I'm thinking i wouldn't go any bigger then a 440 fan, that be plenty of power for her and very reliable.
