Type 4 just says: Bandpass Box — sealed/ported hybrid. Highly efficient, but with less accuracy

As far as the sub mounting itself, I'm not exactly sure. From my take on it, they face the normal direction; the face of the sub would be visibly through the plexiglass. I'm thinkin' that the hook up your looking at is one of the terminal cups you plug your speaker wires from the amp into. If you look at both pictures, it almost appears that there are 2 of the terminal cups side by side.

I'm not positive on that though...

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion. Moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut!

It doesn't matter what way you face them, in or out, the box will sound the same . . . like crap. Bandpass is a gimmick. If you want big output, go ported, it will still sound a hell of a lot better than bandpass (and if you're really good at designing them, even sound better than sealed)

I would have to say, we have designed and built some pretty damn impressive bandpass enclosures back in the day. They are not the easiest to get right but when they are right, the work well. For big, thick bass though, I do prefer a simple ported design.

Here's the largest (and loudest) bandpass we've built. I believe it was metered low to mid 150's if I recall, but that was many years ago. Not loud by today's standards, but holy crap this thing would make you sick if you sat in there too long. I haven't been into big audio like this for quite some time now.

yep typical prefab 4th order bandpass. 1 sealed chamber and 2 ported chambers. a very well designed 4th order will sound nice but for alot more controlled bass use a ported enclosure.
