I'm looking at buying a new/used SRX. I looked a an 01 tonight and when it was started there seemed to be oil or something coming from under the power valve on the center cilinder and driping on the exhaust pipe.
Is this a concern? I'm new to the whole power valve thing so I have no idea what might be the problem could be or weather or not it could be something serious. I'm not even sure its oil, all I know is it was black and slipery, maybe carbon? The owner (not original) wasnt sure if the valves have ever been cleaned. sled had 2400 miles only 500 from him.
Another thing I noticed is the belly pan right where the shock mounts seems to have melted from the heat of the exhaust pipes. anyone ever heard of this?
my srx has the same leak, it's the gasket. Nothing to be concerned about. As far as the pv's easiest way to chek if they are working is to try the sled.. srx without the pv's working properly does not have a very impressive top end.. I would however recommend to clean them every 600 miles or so. Chek out the site totally yamaha for more info on pv's.
By the way, I owne a 2001 srx, and it's the best damn trail sled their is...«power and handling is aswome!
