I think it is about time to buy a GPS. I wat a cheap one, but one that works. Do you download maps on or how does it work? Can you get Google Earth on it?

Any recomendations?

you should get a garmen legend its the etrex edition but its a good one i have one and i love it and if you want maps you have to buy the disk of maps and it will only hold so much of it. on the maps its in little blocks that you have to mark which ones you want and if its for ridding i would put the blocks of wher you ride at because it has highways on it for every wher. if ther is any other questions just ask...

I have a Garmin etrex Legend Cx. For trail maps I use the Minnesota map from this site www.gpssledmaps.com I just downloaded the map to my computer then transfered them into my GPS.

I don't have a bracket on my snowmobile to hold my GPS yet, I just keep it in my jacket pocket so the batteries stay warm. This spring I picked up a tank bag so I'll probably start keeping it in there and toss in a hand warmer to keep things warm.

I have the Etrex Legend also. I haven't put any extra maps into mine... I haven't needed to. I've used it in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Wisconsin (not all for sledding). Never needed any extra maps downloaded. I have the Topography software for my computer so that I can download the tracks that I make while riding or driving around. Then I can make pictures of where I went to show other people if I feel like it.

I have a RAM mount that I picked up on Ebay. It's mounted to my steering post and holds the GPS nice and tight. It's stayed in place both times I've rolled my sled.

You should be able to pick up the etrex legend for under $100 and the legend cx for just a little over that off of ebay.

Not so long ago, a deranged, ranting person's audience was limited to how many people happened to be on the same street. The Internet, however, has certainly allowed "crazy" to go global...

Depends what your looking for in a gps.

I have 3 at the moment.

Garmin Emap
Garmin Etrex Legend
Garmin Streetpilot 2610

I have owned 2 other ones (magellans and garmins). I'll give my opinion when you say what you want in a gps.

I got an eTrex Vista (color) as a gift and love it. It has given me the confidence to track my deer in the dark during bow season, and verify where we were when on an unfamilar trail during a 115 mile ride. I don't use it as much as I should. Maps are extra and are sold by regions.
