Last sunday, well no pictures as of yet, I have a few that I found floating around facebook that someone else took that weekend. Was doin good (puddle opened up to about 500 feet) nice carves, wheelies, etc, doubling people across. I remember on my other puddle jumping thread I said I'd wait till I got an 800 to try out the ski dip.... well I didn't... can you guess what happened hahaha. Track spun on the ice (96 studs isn't good enough!) got ten feet in and sunk'r. don't wear a floater suit so I scrambled out of the hole, stripped down, grabbed someones rope (a few hundred people are always at this shallower open spot) dove back in with my jeans and sweater on, where I sunk was about 10 feet deep, since my sled is all black I couldn't even find it! SO I had to pay a diver that happened to be there 200 bucks to pull'r out.

Pulled the plugs tilted the sled over, pulled it over till all the water was out, but ended up towning it home because I was scare of water in the fluids. Anything else I should do other than changing the fluids and firing it up??

You sunk your sled the exact same way i did. I started to get alittle cocky and went up to the water really slow and let the ski's drop and then tried to go but I spun out on the ice, the sled went striaght up and sunk about 6' away. I got my sled running after and had it running for a long time to get the water out of the engine. I didn't see any water in the oil resevoir so i didn't change it, but when it came to fall I started up my sled again and it was leaning out because the plugs were wite. So I took a look at the oil pump andI could see water in the lines going to the pump. I drained the pump and ran new oil threw it and thought it would be good. When winter came around my sled blew up and the reason why it did is bcause the oil pump was rusted inside. Just make sure you drain all of your oils and drain the oil pump and then run it for a long time. actually drive the sled to because the sled will use more oil than just leting it idle.

haha yeah firecatf5, I wouldn't try anything major on that cat without a big run, firecat's aren't the best swimmers, get that track rpm up high before you touch water if ya do.

no I haven't had the time to get it running, it's been sitting there for about a week, I'm going to go home tonight and put some oil down the cylinders and pull it over a bunch of times to make sure it doesn't seaze. Gonna pull off a couple other things too lol.

thank's for the heads up northern mxz, I'll definatly keep that in mind. I'm thinking of putting an 800 mod motor in next season so I dunno!

as for the pictures, yeah there alright but there could have been better ones lol.

hey northern mxz, did you prime your oil pump properly before you put it back in? a friend of mine told me the engine will grenade if you don't do this, so just curious if you did or not?

I never had the oil pump off the engine. I justed took out the bleed screw and water was coming out. I think it rusted inside the oil pump because I never thought about looking at it after I sunk. Than I filled up the oild pump with newoil and blead the pump.

not so good lol, tried to fire it a few days later, kept flooding, lost hope, just poured some oil down the spark plug holes and pulled it over a few times to coat the cylinders, and that's it till I rip it apart this summer. Might send it out to bikeman performance or cudney to have them port and polish it and do some machining on the crank and what not, just trying to figure out if it's worth doing that or just going with an 800 triple (or double being more realistic)

well yeah with no studs you won't be going far, I however do have studs and can pull off a succesful ski dip, just with more studs and maybe another half inch of lug on the track (1" speed tracks aren't the best) haha.

and Snowdriven, haha when I was there was probably the sunday after, it was the last decent day for riding, it started raining the next day. Yeah there were a few puddle jumpers there with purpose built sleds, an orange one and a black ski-doo. Almost a head on collision with a switchback whilst he was trying to do a big doughnut hahah.

yea, some people are so stupid, gotta wait your turn. I saw this cat go down because another sled cut in front of him and just blasted him with water. The other sled just happened to be a ski-doo, lol.

your motors probbably gonna be junk by now putting the oil in there its just pushin the water around and it needed to be run to burn the rest of the water out of it before it messed up the bearings
