Hey guys, for those who know, ive ridden polaris all my life, well, ive come to a conclusion and with the help of some people on here, even though i havent mentioned it, ive decided to switch to arctic cat, i feel as if polaris isnt giving me what im looking for, there prices are pretty expensive for starters and im not a huge fan of there looks anymore, ive ridden my dads fusion and i dont like it very much. So im switching teams to arctic cat. First things first, I have absolutly no knowledge of these machines at all, i don't know how they handle or anything, so i'm in need of you guys help. I was looking at getting a 440 snopro. Although i wanted an iq440 before, people told me they are terrible for trail riding, is this the same for the 440 snopros or are they trail rideable, can they stand to some distant riding aswell and just short little bootes with the gf and jumping? Any sort of mods i should do to one if i get one? Anything i should look out for? Secondly, i was looking at possibly the f-series, 05 f5 f6 or possibly an f7. What are your opinions on these sleds and what do you think the better buy would be. Thanks a ton guys, and sorry for writing a book here.

The 440's are usually fine for trails as long as they are trail converted. Basically, it will need trail heads, oil injection, added cooling, and probably a different clutch setup. If you go with an '04+ you may also want a larger gas tank as well. If you are going to do alot of trail riding with it, I would suggest having the shocks revalved for a bit softer ride. I know my '06 is setup VERY stiff for Sno-X. If you do alot of jumping, I would suggest one.

If you do not want the hassle of converting a 440, and/or you don't go out and beat on your sled (like I do), a standard Firecat would be fine. I'm a fan of the F7's...but I like all the power I can get. The other's will still be a fun ride, just not as fast on the lakes. I think a Firecat SnoPro would be a good sled, even tho the 440's are a blast to ride!

1996 Ski-Doo FormulaIII 600

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion. Moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut!

ha ha yeah, my gf wants to get into riding, so i suggested we both get 440's. That way she can learn to ride what a beast they are, and i can learn and start to jump with mine, and still go on trail rides with her, knowing her, we wont be going on very long rides because she gets cold easily.

I ditch bang my IQ 440 and I love it. In tight twisty trails it is kind of hard to muscle around because the center of gravity is so high, especially if you stand up all the time. But the power it puts out for being a 440 is unbeatable. I can hang with people riding bigger sleds than me all day through the ditches. Plus the IQ 440 chassis is very unique in the fact that it is only the racer that has that styling vs. other brands where their race 440s look like their consumer models cosmetically. With the exception of the new Cats and XP Doos that were new this year.
