I finally convinced my dad to let me do something with all of my money thats just sitting in my room. He said that I might be allowed to get a dirt bike.
But, I know nothing about them. I have never ridden one or even been around them. I want something that I can play with. I want to spend around $1000 for one. I don't want to have to rebuild it or anything. I am 5'8" and around 170. I was thinking something along the lines of a Honda because thats what our atv is. Can somebody tell me what would be best for me please.

Well, now, you cant buy much with 1000, chances are you'll get an older 2-stroke for that. Maybe a 97' YZ 125?

I can probably go to $2000 if I have my dad pay for part of it then i make payments. What would the cost be for a good one.

Get a 98' or newer yz125. It dominated it's class until the thumpers came out. The only big difference between a 98' and a 03' or newer is the frame. No big deal. SERIOUSLY....yz125 but make sure it's at least a 98'. I picked one up last summer for 900 bucks in really good shape.

Good luck

Don't listen to EFP. What I said about the 125 is true and it's a perfect bike for what you need.
