Hello i am looking for advice on gettign a dog. the breeds that i am looking at are black labs, white german sheppards and siberian huskies. now raceman1 and xcrhypertriple both have dogs (choclate lab and golden retriever both pure bred). now i have asked them and gotten there tips and what not. now we all head out to the lake for sledding for a week or so and all of my buds dogs come along. so the dog would have to be a socialable dog and get along fine with other dogs. i know it helps if the pup is around other dogs from the get go and it would be just due to all my friends having dogs. i understand the time and commitment dogs of this size and activity level require so thats not an issue. i however am looking for a range of experiences with these dogs from other owners. any tips advice and training methods would be great.

thanks
and as for my buds no telling the g/f as this is a suprise for her and for the rest..yes she knows we are getting a dog, i just told her it would be in the fall, but want to suprise her for are 2yr benchmarch.

Golden retrievers have always been great dogs with us. Extremely friendly, like to run around but never on their own. Never had to tie them up on the farm.

Don't know anything personally about german shepards or labs, but I would avoid the Siberian Huskie. My uncle had one of those, almost too friendly, but they like to run. He got off his chain quite a few times and it didn't take long before neighbors from a few miles away were calling. Even if you do walk them, they are strong and it'll give you quite a workout to hold on to them.

Get a lab, you will be happy once he is trained! Huskies will eat you out of cash and if you get the alpha male you could have behavior problems!
