I have a 2004 Polaris 700 XC SP. I refuse to give it up but am tired of having to keep stopping for fuel every 75 miles. I was wondering if I could replace the factory fuel injection with a new CFI system. Any help will be great. Thanks for your time.

Your sled has carbs, not fuel injection. It is probably possible to put the CFI system on it but the fuel mapping would not be setup for your sled. If it was too lean you could burn the motor down. What is your jetting and clutching setup, you should be able to go at least 100 miles riding trails with that sled. I can go 100 miles on one tank of gas trail riding on my Pro-X 800 and I'm spinning a 144" track.

2003 Pro-X 800 144": Boss Seat, SLP pipe/can, SLP intake/flowrites, Tracks USA tunnel/rail extensions, 144"x15"x2" Challenger track, 6" billet riser, PERC, torque/push arms, motor plate

My fuel tank was recalled this last year so when they replaced it, they made sure my clutch and jets were also set right. I can get 100 miles if I stay under 50 mph but the moment I open it up even a little bit, it sucks the fuel right out. I ran 50 and under for 50 miles and was at half a tank, then I opened it up for 7 miles and dropped to a quarter tank.....that's what worries me.

Forget the gage. The only way to check mileage is with the odometer for miles you traveled vs how many gals to top off the tank.

Pull you plugs, if they are not cocoa brown to light brown, your jetting is too rich.

My 03 800 ProX would only get about 95 miles to the tank with factory stock jetting, Dropping 2 sizes on the main jets and I was running 130 to 140 miles easy on a tank of fuel.

I agree with the above post,if it still has factory jetting it is probley running to rich. Drop it a size or 2 and see what happens.
