I was just given a 1972 Suzuki XR 400 in really good condition. The sled sat for 3 years but started up easy, I just have to put new gas in and some gas stabalizer.

Does anyone know where I could get a basic value? I have looked all over websites but haven't found it yet.

Suzuki XR400 uses 395 engine centrifugal fan cooled and E.T.I. (energy transfer/points ignition), 36 hp@ 6000 rpm. two mikuni carbs and original oil mix recommendation was 20:1 (standard 2 stroke dino oil) can be run at as little as 40:1 with synthetic. Original belt # 21711-9705. Spark plug is either NGK B7-HS or Champion L-81 or L-3G, gapped @ 0.024-0.028* (if you use the L-3G, gap is 0.015).

Quite a rare sled as not that many were made and if it is in good condition, a collector will pay almost any asking price. My guess would be (best price) $1000 and least price of $300. depending on the condition of the sled and whether it runs or not.

If I get to doing any better I am going to have to hire someone to help me celebrate.

She is in near mint condition....paint is a bit flaked but what do you expect with age of machine. She runs great considering she hasn't been used for a while. I am getting my bf to clean up the engine.

He's voting I let my kids use it but I don't think he's gonna win on this one...lol.

Thanks for your reply.
