The 2004 is the best one imo. With some work its a good sled.. The 06 had some problems I think with there tracks I believe or something. 2004 is the easiest to trail converted I think... Not sure...

Hit up the Classified section within the Race/440 forum at HCS. Quite a few on there at a given time.

With some work? Any SnoPro (or most sleds in general) would be an awesome sled with "some work." I would also argue that the '04 is "The Best." It was the first year of that platform, so it had a few quirks that needed working out. By the time the 05's were released, most were fixed. Come '06, and there was little to improve upon. At any rate, the sleds should have any and all updates done already, so you should be fine. The 04's also did not have a "Gripper" style seat. Not a big deal to some people, but I for one prefer the grippy seat. Keeps you planted easier.

The "track problem" you refer too should actually be for '05-'07. The only real problem is from people who trail ride them. They used the 3.0 pitch Attack-20 track which is by no means trail friendly! If you trail ride it, you are taking a chance of destroying the track.

Technically the 03's were easiest to convert, but since we're talking '04-'07, they are about all the same. The only thing I can think of that might make the '04 easier is the fact that you can bolt a '02 cooler in the rear bumper.

You also forgot low compression heads in your list.

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion. Moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut!

Yeah i know that the 04 are the easiest to "convert" just because of the rear bumper the 02 rear cooler fits right in there. Along with that i thik the 06 had a type of gear or something that makes the chain slip when you land from a jump. I heard they are not good on the trail. Now i dont know if you can change that. But as far as the gripper seat you can always get the cover for the 05 and up right or are they a completely differant seat?

Im confused cause i would like to get the 04 cause they are easier to convert but at the same time i plan on getting quite a bit of air time off my comp ramp. So there for i am leaning at the 05 and up for the fox floats. Let me know what you guys think.

The '06 used a slipper gear, you are correct. It was designed to prevent chains from breaking on the track. I've read that they are fine on trails; I've read that they are no good for trails. I believe I have a slipper gear in my '06 (haven't looked, but should have one). I have trail ridden it and didn't see a problem with it. I don't think I ever even put enough pressure on it to make it slip. If need be, you can swap the gears out for solid ones. I don't remember what ones fit, but I could find that info if need be.

The seat should swap right over. It is only held on by 2 nuts in the back, and a spring up front. If you had both seats, it would only be a couple minutes to swap it over I imagine.

Since you're running the 440, all you would need to do for cooling is mount an '02 cooler on the airbox. The guy I bought mine from has run many, many miles with SnoPro's like that. Ease of converting would be the last thing I'd be worried about when deciding on one. Personally I'd look for an '05 or '06...but that's a matter of opinion. Buy whatever you can find the best deal on that's not beat to hell.

Yeah i was just reading a thread at HCS and it talked about mounting the '02 cooler on the air box. I was so happy to hear that. It will deffinetly save me some time. And it sounds like a great idea.
