Hello all,

I'm new member here, but not new to sleds. Anywho, I was at a farm equipment auction today and came across 3 sleds, a Rupp SnoSport, a Kitty Cat, and a Mercury 250ER. The Kitty went for $225, I missed the Rupp. Long story short, I ended up winning the Mercury for $110 + tax. Overall, I'd say it's in excellent cosmetic condition. I haven't tried to start it yet, but the tag said it would. I'm just wondering if you guys (or gals) could tell me how much it is really worth and what the year is. The serial # is 2750XXX. Also, anything else you could tell me (history, reference sites) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch! (PS: in the pic of the gas tank you are seeing the reflection of my brother's tool box, and it has both headlights except one is darker in the pics than the other.)

Let it snow.

those things are really cool. My buddy picked up two of them for free out of some ladies back yard and sold them for 350 together. If I remember correctly the exhaust runs under the seat or something and the gas tank is in the back. Thats about all I can help you with, nice find

Merc 250ER, made in model year 69/70.
If it has the 399 engine, it's a 69.
the 70 year/model was equipped with a 439
Both engines will be Mercury/OMC engines with Tillotson carbs.
Finding on in good shape and still able to run is not too common.
The exhaust on those does run under the seat, it was supposed to keep the seat warm for the rider.

Thnaks for the help!

Yep, the exhaust runs under the seat and the tank is in the back. I talked to my uncle today (a huge snowmobile nut) and found out it was made in 1970. Tonight I squirted some starting fluid in the cylinders, turned her over and she fired so with a little more work she'll be hitting the snow by this winter!

BTW, the Rupp SnoSport went for $60! It was in about the same shape or better than the Mercury and it ran.
