Hello everyone i am looking for opinions on lift kits for my truck, which is a 2002 gmc serria ext cab, ext box, 5.3 v8. i have not lifted a truck before but i am very mechanically incline. I am looking at pro comp's 6"lift kit as well as skyjacker and tuff country 6" kits as well. Now my truck does not go offroad much if any, this is due to the fact its a long truck and i could easily get hung up. With that in mind i do drive do wn plowed roads during the winter and out on the lake as well. Now the lift kit is needed to 1. get more ground clearence so i can venture in deeper snow during the winter and 2. to make the new 295/75/16 nitto terra grappler tire i put on look more at place on my truck(look like marshmellow tires) i would also like to know the benifts of a multi shock setup vs a single shock one. Also all the 6" lift kits i am looking at require a 4.5" back spacing and new rims for the said offset. Now stock backspacing is 5.5', i will if need be buy new rims but was wondering if i could use wheel spacers and longer brake line and not have to worry about the offset. Also any helpful tips would be great i know there is some cutting and welding required on some kits and that fine. while im doning the lift i will also be (hopefully) doing all the bushings and ball joints. Any help on finding a complete bushing kit as well would be great. Energy suspension does not list anything on there site and i will be calling all the potential parts companies this coming week. As for the rest of the truck is stock save a k&n air filter. Future plans call for a transmission upgrade and exhaust as soon as the mint one i have rusts out. The truck will be arounf for about 2-3 more years at the most. So tons of cash will not be going into it. I have been there and done that deal with my old mustang and the truck will be replaced with a 250/2500 series diesil which will get all the cash thrown at it i can spare.

thanks and cheers

Maybe more than just black rims. I like the look of a all-black truck. how about tinted head lights, step rails (get stainless steel!!!), roof lights, and every truck could use some pipes.

If I don't keep this sled for the whole season, I promise to never sign on to Snowmobile Fanatics again.

I would go with a 4inch lift myself, your 33x11.50 tires might look a little small with a 6inch,not to mention less fuel mileage if that is an issue to you. Should make a nice difference in appearence of your truck!

the tires right now look huge on my truck. the ones in the pic are my old 265/75/16 goodyears. i think the 33 will look right at home with a 6" lift. as for the all black im going to be covering all the chrome trim on my truck in linex so i wont have to worry about it pitting and rusting. and black headlights and step bars are on my list as well. and exhaust as soon as mine rusts out. its mint right now so it would be ashame to just toss it in favour of a aftermarket one. as for fuel milage i get 800km highway driving and 600-675 city now thats 500 miles highway and 375-421 city on a 30 gallon tank. so figure 16- 17 mile per gallon highway and 14ish city. right now it costs me about $160 a tank and that last me a weekand a bit. gas milage is not a concern, i bitch like everyone else but i pay it, or rather works pays it 80% of the time.
ps work will be decaling my truck in a silver wrap so the truck will be a dark silver/ titanium and blue. price i pay for getting a free phone. but it saves me between 1200-1800 a year out of my pocket.
cheers
