the other mesh topic reminded me. No one wants to pay all that money for a vent kit. How would you go about making your own. What are the backings/ supports made of?

http://www.startinglineproducts.com/cata...ductID=292

Im guessing you could make a large one for clutch or pipe side for under $60

whats the rigid part made of and how are they secured together?

Screen door material works pretty good I have heard. I personally would spend the money for the fit and finish and quality of a pre-made one. A hole saw, shoe glue, and screen door material will get the job done.

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor. I made mine out of perforated sheet metal used in heating/airconditioning applications. They are like the ones from Timbersled and SLP. This is not the mesh type venting but it is a vent.

Screen for pet doors would work perfect. They dont let water or snow through. For the frame you can cut up a 5 gallon bucket and use hobby glue to secure it.

+1, except, to hold the screen in, use:

What we did was bought a 8' sheet of this mesh from Lowes (only like 10 bucks) for gutters. Cut it to a general shape thanther bend it till it fits. Then you rivet it on. If you want some extra sturdiness (like I did) get some 3M Plastic Emblem Adhesive and glue in weak or sagging areas. The cutting and bending...Royal Pain In The A$$ but it was all worthwile. I'll maybe take a pic and show it to you all.

Use Krylon Fusion. Thats how I painted my 700's vents.

And then I used krylon ( im not sure what kind, its for metals, not for plastics ) to paint the vents on my 440, since there metal, not plastic.

And then the 440x was done with krylon fusion
