The term "mod sled" has been loosely thrown around for a long time now. If someone were to build a "mod sled" or perform a "sled build" what changes are necessary before classifying the sled / project as a mod sled or sled build? The term "mod" generally means "modification to the original". This could be any change at all but "mod sled", as a whole, means something more specific I believe.
The main purpose of this topic is for the sake of curiosity. The second purpose is a functional one in which I need criteria to either accept or reject sleds if I were to have a sort of weekly or monthly "mod sled" contest. I know some people have ideas that are different than others but here are my ideas.
A mod sled is more than an atheistic change. This doesn't mean removing stickers from, adding stickers to, painting, or re-finishing any surfaces.
A mod sled is more than a pipe and/or a can, handlebar risers, taller windshield, other simple add-ons.
A mod doesn't need to be something entirely based on increased power output, etc. It can be changes made to improve handling or other things too.
Of course, a combination of the above may be used in a mod sled project but in and of themselves I don't think qualify as a mod sled.
What are your ideas of what a "mod sled" is or what a "sled project" is and/or entails? Is there a dollar amount or some sort of time/effort level that needs to be reached? Can we classify "mod sleds" into different categories?
