i just finally installed linux on my computer and i am having trouble watching vides and lestening to sound. i can still watch videos but they arent smooth they are choppy, so i asked my dad about the videos and he said i need to install 3D acceleration and i have no idea how to do it. i searched it on yahoo and found out i need to be in this "terminal" thing but i dont know what im doing there so...and i have an ATI card.

and with the sound, my sound card worked with my windows, but now when i click the little speaker for volume control it says "The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you do not have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you do not have a sound card configured.

You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the speaker icon on the panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the menu."

can anyone help me with my problems?
thanks Ty

the 3D acceleration card is allmost like the ATI card but i dont think thats what you need what softwear are you using to watch videos? it might be out dated? mabe idk also the audio seems to me like the sound thing did you try uninstalling and reinstalling it?
