Umm.. From the looks of your pic you are wanting to move the top of the chain case? Ive never done it and dont know much about it, but dont you only move the bottom and leave the top alone?

Well i guess you would have to move the top if its called a drop and roll..

Ive just always though only the bottom was rolled..

Anyways, How do you move the top also? you have to relocate the jackshaft mounts and everything?

I have never heard of anyone moving it foward. You would have to move your rear suspension forward to compensate or go to a longer track.

i would have to say talk to the guys at fabcraft or Timbersled or even Van Amburg.

i know they don't work on the old rupps but see if they have any tips or info about it.

what sled is this your working on? from your picture it looks as if your doing this to a left side chain case sled? is that correct? you said its vintage. if i were you and it is a left side chain case sled i would scrap that drive train and put in a jack shaft drive train. that way you have a jack shaft and you can put it anywhere. you may have to move the motor over at that point but it would be worth it. im doing something similar but installing a yamaha jack shaft drive into a 75 sno jet that once had the left chain case. my project is for oval racing but the same would apply to a mountain project.
