Well like everyone else and every where else I am hating the gas prices with a passion. But there is no point on b*tching about it anymore. We all know that gas will never be the same. With some new government it may drop a little but never to where it should be. So I would like to know some of your opinions on how you can save gas. Personaly my 4 cyclinder 2002 Seabring isnt too bad on gas. But it could be better. When ever I get my pay check I will be doing the following to save gas:

1. Change plugs and wires. I will be buying racing wires for better spark with E3 Diamond Series plugs for better spark as well. No I am deffintly not trying to get more HP from my Seabring becauze I wont get much from a 4 cyclinder I just heard that E3 have great fuel economy.

2. Filters. I will be changing the Air filter to a k&n filter if they are made for my type of car. If not I will be going with the next best thing. Better Air Fuel mixture, better the gas mileage. The gas filter is unfortuently like a 4 hour job because of where it is located. But for other people I would suggest a new fuel filter as well. Don't need any slugging do we?

3. New tires. This is a pricey one so I may have to wait for 2 pay checks. I heard (although it sounds dumb) if you have the proper tires for the time of year the grips on them will work properly. Plus one of my tires I believe has a slow leak in it. And a flat tire will deffintly cause resistences when driving making your enigine work harder then needed.

And for now thats all I can think of. But I have done some small things for better fuel:

1. First thing I did was ran Seafoam in it. Run it through your engine in the oil, gas and even through a fan hose. It will smoke really blue but that is good. It should do it for a few minutes and it will clean everything out. And it seamed to help.

2. Engine Flush. We got a professional engine flush done. It was done at Wal-Mart. Yes, I know Wal-Mart but hey they do the same job for less. Plus they don't charge by the hour. So think about that next time you go to a local machanic and you have to pay by the hour.

So far I find that those ar the best things to do. I tried running some other cleaners but it didnt seam to do anything for me. So you can try them if you want but I highly suggest Seafoam. So any other ideas I and Im sure other member would love to hear them :D.

If you cant fix it with duct tape, tylnol, or band aids your screwed.

if K&N doesnt make a filter for you look into the Fram Air Hog filters. also if you can find them get this little thing called the "tornado" (http://www.shadetreemechanic.com/tornado_air.htm)it a piece that goes into your intake pipe and causes better fuel atomization. i was skeptical with it at first but it actually does work.i have one in my mazda protege and after 3 tanks of gas i watched my fuel economy go from 33mpg to 41mpg by just installing this. its not expensive either. i think i paid 21 bucks for mine. everything else you have mentioned is a very good list of things to do.when i think of more things i will add them here

Remember to keep your tires inflated. Also, there was a article in Diesel Power about a 97 Dodge Ram 3500 getting like 30 MPGs. Here is the link http://www.dieselpowermag.com/tech/general/0708dp_1997_dodge_ram_3500_dualie_cummins/index.html . I dont know if some of that stuff was legal though. Also, you can go easier on the throttle and try running in a high gear to keep your RPMs low and saving fuel. Also, even though diesel is more expensive a VW Jetta TDI can get 40+ mpgs stock. So that might not be a good thing to buy a car to save gas, but if you are looking for a car they are good.
