what did you use for the output container and what codec, it says in box 1 and 2 two at the top. also under that what bitrate does it say? a good high efficiency output container and codec combo is to use a mp4 container with the h.264 codec, the bit rate depends on what the source file is and what size you want to output. the higher the bit rate the better the quality to a cretin point, but it also makes the file larger.
do you know if the camcorder was HD? if not you should be able to use a resolution of 720x480, which is a common resolution on cameras. if its an hd camera you can use 1280x720 or 1920x1080, but if you use the 1920x1080 you need a power house computer, or a new video card that is hardware hd compatible to play it smoothly.
if you use the 720x480 resolution try a bit rate of 2000kbps and go from there, if you dont like the quality then go up, if you dont like the file size go down till you found a happy medium.
