The stock headlight bulb/bulbs are not very bright, so I would like to replace with a brighter bulb if that won't hurt anything? What do you guys think?

What kind?, how much?, and where to get them from?

Thanks a heap!

Not sure its safe.. But last year we replaced mine on my 96 polaris with one thats for a car. Not sure what it was called.. But i think it was GE one. It was very bright and was way better..

I guess ill wait and see if someone knows if that is safe or not.. Mine has been working fine.

If you get the dennis kirk catalouge they have bright buld applications for just about any sled (even for my '76 Pantera, I'm getting a brigter one too!) and in a whole variety of colors. They are anywhere from like $10 to $30 depending upon type and features. It shouldn't hurt anything, it will draw more power (usually) with a brighter bulb.

MODS to come! Newer sled first!

Old doesn't necessarily mean slow!!

Do what you can with what you got.

That was my concern of it drawing too much juice and shorting something out. Thanks! As long as it's safe and does not hurt the performance of the sled I would sure like to get the brighter bulb.
I sure would like to hear from someone who has used them though.

Well like i said i use a brighter bulb on mine. I got it at fleet and farm (its also a ace hardware) Mine has worked fine no problem. We also put the same bulb on the older 85? polaris and worked fine also.

I say go for it. Here is the bulb in my sled right now. It says GE 60/55 watt. Shouldnt run more than 10-15 at the most. Dont quote me on the price tho. Error: File 133501 doesn't exist in gallery!

EDIT: Just checked out denniskirk.com. With the bulb i have you should be good to go. The bulb on there is 60/55 watt also and 12 volt obviously. Its pretty cheap on there only 5 bucks, but it may be easier, faster, possibly cheaper to buy one in-store.

^ I think I'm going to try conversion bulb from D.K. I'll talk to one of the techs and ask for their opinion. I believe you that the car bulb works fine, but I won't be the one riding this machine and want to make sure things are right for who ever is riding it.
