Ok, so I stumbled across an '86 Indy Trail. It needs a windshield, front skis, a seat cover, and a track. The guy's asking 350 for it, and seems pretty firm about the price. It runs well, and was his primary rider until the track tore and he picked up a cheap newer sled. I'm thinking on picking this sled up for a decent extra when family comes home and all want to ride (it's never fun to throw on the seat back and ride double on my ZR). I guess my questions are, is this a good price on a sled like this? Also, what other models can I look for parts that swap in (i.e. skis from an XCR, etc.) One last question...my buddy's got an xtra-10 skid, will it fit in this sled? Sorry I'm full of Polaris questions, the last one I owned was an 86 Indy 400, and I loved the thing..we're primarily cat people and so I'm not exposed to too many polaris's. thanks guys!!

Once you stick all those things into it that it needs that going to add up real fast.. If its in great condition other wise. It may be worth the 350.. Try and get him to lower the price some..

Almost all polaris parts swap.. If its got the IFS all skis upto like 06 i believe are swappable..

The xtra 10 skid will work for you, But it doesnt bolt right up. You have to relocated the mount holes. Which are provided here if needed: http://www.jbshocks.com/x10mount.jpg

That is for the 121" track. If you need the mounts for the 133.5" xtra 10 i can get those from my sled that had xtra 10 133.5" stock..

Personally i would look for around a 90 atleast and up, You can prolly find a running wedge for 500 bucks if your lucky. It wont be mint but it should be decent and not need much work if any..

The way I look at it is say I pick it up for 200-250, put 100-150 into a used track, pick up some skis (don't really need to be plastics, but that'd be nice) for around another 70, and a windshield for around 50...that puts me at 420-530 for a decent bum-around sled....what I'm mostly concerned with is parts swappability...if I can pick up some cheap skis and a cheap used track (or I could use my old one, i'm sure it's the same as my ZR) It's not in real good shape, but it does work. Xtra 10 would be nice, but it should be ok with it's old skid in it too...

Sounds good. If it doesnt look like he will be selling it anytime soon i would search around for a year 90+ to see if there is any better deals on a complete and a little newer sled.

If your ZR is a 121" you can throw that on there and it will work im pretty sure. Just look around, you can get steel skis for as cheap as 20-30 bucks if your lucky, But they also get upto 50 and over so just search around this summer for deals on the parts you need. If its not going to be a main sled i wouldnt spend 150 on a track, you should be able to get a decent smaller lug track for under 100, maybe even 50, Like i said you just got to do some searching for the stuff.

If you can get it for 200 or so i would say go for it.
