Tho most of us have never met her, she has in one way or another touched our hearts. it is with deep sadness that I inform you today that Laura Gribneau AKA RipnChick has passed away after her car was hit by a drunk driver.
My deepest condolences to her family and they will be in my prayers.

As posted on the other site, this is definitely not easy to handle. For those that didn't know her, all I can say is she was one of the coolest and level headed people I have met on the forums and became friends with. Definitely one of the guys, could definitely take it as much as she could dish it, was a great wife to her husband, mother to her children, etc. I know things will never be the same over on Slednutz (can't say for here) and that she will truely be missed. RIP Laura.... you are truly one of a kind.

Wow. I thought it was some sort of sick joke.
It was just days ago we were both bitching about china and things in America.
I will miss her dearly. But I got to say one thing, she lived life like every day was her last! Just as we all should live. Have fun, live life, do what you want when you want to do it.
I read the comments on some of the news sites. Supposedly someone in the car said it was their own mistake, they pulled out from an intersection and didn't see the other guy coming. So there was a DWI guy that hit them and a car that that ripn was in that just made a mistake at a bad intersection? crazy sad.
I friggen hate how **** works sometimes.
+++++++ a million to a good life my friend!

From what I have read it was one of (if not thee) the worst interjection in that county. There is an old building that blocks the view of drivers pulling out from that stop sign and accidents are frequent there. The building is supposed to be torn down in 3 weeks due to this exact reason. I think it was the old town hall or something like that. At first I was angry about the fact that a drunk driver did this but have since read someone from Ripn's family state this could have easily happened if both were stone sober. Regardless of whose fault it might be it still sucks to have lost someone like Ripn.

Error: File 134972 doesn't exist in gallery!
Why wasn't there a stop sign for the East/West bound lanes when it was known to be a dangerous intersection?

Copied from my post on slednutz.
Slednutz is more then just a Forum of sledders, we are a tight knit family. It amazes me how when something so heartbreaking like this takes place, how quickly this family comes together.
There is not a person in the world that could replace Ripn, she was truely one in her own. she was someone no matter how ****ty your day was going, she could always put a smile on your face. even just by looking at those photo's that indy posted i'm torn, i can't help but smile at all the stories and chats that i had with ripn in the chatroom or in PM's or just browsing forum topics. When I was at school my class would start at 9am, i would go just sit in the chatroom, and after a while of this members came in. well wasn't too long after that, ripn would be waiting for me in the chatroom in the morning. i would tell her how boring class is, and she would come up with something to make the day fly by. She was never short on ball busting comments as many of you know, and i could only imagine what it would have been like to meet her in person. She was a diehard sledder that i think could most definatly give us all a run for our money in the steep and deep, or down a hard freshly groomed trail.
and as cliche as this sounds, ripn was one of the brightest lights in the world as we know it, and without her the world seems to loose that joyous light and comedy that only those close to her would know.
I'm writing this with tears pouring down my cheeks, knowing full well my spelling errors that would have been pointed out, my lack of corherent sentence structure that would be ripped apart by our dear ripn and cuzzi post whoring combination. Unfortunatly the MX vs Ripn mud wrestling match will not be able to take place at haydays 2k9, but will most likely be replaced by a moment of silence as a brothers and sisters of a sledding family come together to remember a fallen loved one.
I don't know how to conclude a mess of random thoughts such as this. For ripn would normally finish it for me.
my only ending may be, Rest In Piece Laura for one day I will get an oppertunity to meet you.

Omg, I had no idea it was her. I was talking to my family the other day about how terrible it was and this just makes it even worse .. RIP ripnchick... You will be missed.
I'll always remember the fun times on this site. The Shaft blaster on her 98 xc 700.
This is so sad...

I've had many good conversations with Ripn. When I heard this earlier today I didn't know what to say. I've had a little more time to collect my thoughts. I talk with people in a forum all the time but never realize what an impact that person has had on your life until you lose one of them. Ripn was a great gal who left a memorable impression on everyone that she had contact with. It makes you wonder why the bad things have to happen to the good people. This tragedy sure re-opens my eyes up as to the way I need to live my life. I think that Ripn has lead as a good example to make sure that you life a full life because you never know when it may tragically come to a quick end.
My condolences go out to Laura's family. BJ and kids may God be with you during this time.
R.I.P. Ripn, I know you're in a better place anxiously waiting to take Ugly Betty out for a ride when you get a break from looking over all of us.

I did have the pleasure of meeting Ripn and her family and to ride with them in the Colorado Mountains. We had plans for another ride this Spring and also a trip back to New York to ride with them.
I was very shocked, speechless, and my heart was tore up inside when her dad sent me the message that she was killed in a car accident. Had no idea it would effect me this way - but she was truly one of a kind. Could always make you laugh and smile. We had a lot of good chats and fun times together. I was looking forward to all the good times we were going to have. Life is to short, people can be gone before your know it.
I have shed many many tears today, but will always remember the good times I have had with her - in person and on these forums.
Rip'n - Love and Miss you!!
You can see some of the pictures I posted on the Slednutz link that MX posted.
