I pulled my parts of a 03 XC SP 800 and just need to get a flywheel. Everything is taken care of works great! But, what Im wondering is, the tach that came with the 03 is different than the tach on my 02. I would like to keep my 02 style so it matches my speedo. So, is there a way to put a reverse light in my 02 tach? It could be something simple as add a lightbulb or something, but figured I would ask before tearing the tach out. Thanks!

It might be a bulb. I got a 02 xc 800 edge and If you look at the tach there is the word reverse but I dont got a reverse on the sled. So might wana try adding a bulb

its pretty simple really. See this ebay listing for what you need. 280218402148 Just install new wireharness, clutch, handcontrol, cdi and done. the wire harness is the hard part, but still that only takes a little bit of patience. Well worth it. The kit would work great for you, but I pulled mine off a totaled sled for a lot cheaper. good luck!
actually, i just noticed that the 600 kit comes with an oil pump. Actually thats not a bad price, since the 700/800 dont come with the pump

So did you have to replace the oil pump on your 02 800? I was told that you have to have a newer style (03-or newer) oil pump for the PERC because the 02's won't pump backwards.

Actually, I think the 700s and 800s had the reverse-able oil pumps, thats why the kits don't include it.
I might be wrong though.
I like to ride. Even if you have a Doo/Yami/Cat/Poo, so be it. I bought my snowmobile to have fun, not to tell everyone mine is better than yours. My preference...POLARIS, BABY!

^^^^You are wrong. The 02's did not come with the reversable oil pump. You don't NEED to replace the oil pump if you put PERC on an 02, just when you are in reverse, it's not pumping oil for that 5 seconds. I didn't get a reversable oil pump for 2 years after I got PERC on my 02 800 and it worked perfectly.
I need big jugs on my sled, cuz my girl doesn't.

BigRok, did you ever find an 03 flywheel yet? Im looking still. I did get my 03 oil pump put on, figured I would just go ahead and do it since I was able to get one pretty cheap.

No i didn't get an 03 flywheel. I talked to my neighbor (who used to drag race an 02 800 for Polaris) and he said it's not neccessary. The 4* of timing won't make a difference.

thats what I have heard too, but someone did tell me that it would cause it to bog or something since the timing is off (like a car with wrong timing-wont run the way it should). It makes sense that you would want to change it, but if it works for you and you dont notice any performance difference, then it must be okay. If I do find one, i will probably put it on, but until then, I guess I will just ride it. Do you agree?

I agree 100%. I'm not going to bother finding a different one. I don't notice any performance differences and other people that have ridden it haven't noticed any either.

excellent! That saves me about $75 and trying to yank off a flywheel, which means I can finally put her together now. Its been sitting torn down for at least a month because of my shopping for a flywheel.
Next is getting the shocks off to get those rebuilt!!
Thanks again for the input-
oh, and the gauge thing im not too concerned with anymore. Figured I will know when its in reverse, lol
