Good luck on your training SKILIE301
From playing soccer and ice hockey in years past and present I would say for sure stretching is very important. Only light streches before an event though.
[/quote]

And warm down by stretching too,for football you use every muscle immaginable, our team goes through at least 30-40 minutes of pure stretching.

Find a Mixed Martial Arts school and do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
You will not ever need to worry about 'getting into shape' again.

Oh and, please don't run 4 miles a day, 7 days a week Erick. It is horrible for your body to do that. You will not be a happy 40+ man. It is horrendous for your joints to run that much

Epic.

^^^ My weight room coach said to take a 8lb hammer. One of those mini sledge hammers. He said to put your forarm on the top of a table and hang your wrist off the edge and rotate the hammer away from the center of you 90deg and back. He told me that this will strengthen the bottom of the arm, where I get arm pump the worst.

I lift 4 days a week, and condition after every work out. Lots of Plyometric stuff in the off season(football). I'm definately in good shape because I lift and run year round. I don't race, but I know it'll help to be in shape when in the mountains.
