I cant get these buggers in. I know a trick that involves a peice of 3/4" brass fitting and a 14mm socket. But i cant find 3/4 pipe anywhere. I need to get these suckers in quick to. Any tips or tricks?

put the inboard side clips in with out the pin in the piston , just push it into the piston and push it back out with the pin and it should snap into the ring, then just pick and pry in the out side ones with the pins in and them being on the rods

Here's what I did recently...pushed the bottom of the clip(opposite side of the clip gap) inside the piston while squeezing the clip gap together a little. Then I used needle nose pliers and pushed the two ends of the clip inside the piston one at a time. Then from there you can line up the clip to fit on the piston. It took maybe a minute to get each one in if that..after some technique of course. Lemme know if that helps or if I made it sound too complicating

ive never had any stock pistons come with that type of snap ring all the ones i get are just made out of spring wire so normal snap ring pliars wont work.

Same here, None of my sleds have had that from an 85 or so 440 fan polaris, 99 doo 440 race sled, 98 xc 700, None were snap rings.

Sorry. I don't know what I was thinking. I had to go back to when I did mine to see what I was trying to say
http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forum/...ost=649635

I forgot how I got them in. I thought I used the tool I posted above and squeezed them a touch to get them started then pushed them in with the old wrist pin.

i just built my 800ho and those skidoo circlips are tough, did yours have the dogleg on the end or was it just circle. took me an hr to figure it out but once i did theres a spot on the side of the piston where you can use a small screwdriver and sqeeze them in if carefull there tight.

Make sure the opening of the c-clip is facing straight up or down.
If you don't, the clip MIGHT work it's way out than you have problems.
Seen it happen.

I'll second that.

How's your top end work going?
