well i just got done gutting out the can on my 2007 yamaha phazer FX, i didnt take out all of the baffles but quite a bit of them i guess. well i put it on the phazer and now its not starting.
earlyer when the pipe was off I started it just to hear what it sounded like and it whent great until i tried to do a cold start...then it wouldnt run. I was hoping that when i put the pipe back on it that would cure it but it didnt work and it still doesnt run. I tried warming the sled up with a heater but that didnt work eather. And to top all this off my batery is dying. so im am really in need of some help.
any help would be truly apreciated
josh

Running the sled with no can shouldn't hurt anything. My bro installed a MBRP can on his 07 phazerGT. We started it without anything on it, it didn't effect anything. Did you just start it, or did u take it for a ride??

Are you sure you didn't accidentally disconnect some fuel or electrical connections. Also, check the kill switch.

Sounds like you fouled the plugs. 4 strokes are very picky that way. Did you let it warm up after you started it? Or did you just start it, then shut it off right away? If you did that there's a good chance it's just plugs. It's very common for them to foul a plug if you don't let it warm up before shutting it off.

1. Pull plugs
2. Turn it over for about one second
3. Put BRAND NEW plugs in it
4. Hook to jumper cables for 2 minutes, and keep connected until I say so
5. Fire it up
6. Disconnect jumper cables
7. YOUR GOOD TO GO!

Why would you "gut" a can on such a new sled? Or any sled for that matter?

Your right, it is cheaper than buying a can, but if you cannot afford to buy a can then you cannot afford to ride an 07 Yamaha Phazer.

Are you getting spark? Are the plugs wet?
Hook up a battery charger. Let it charge overnight.

why gut a can on a new four stoke well me and a freiund of mine are gutting the pipe on his 06 apex. theres a diagram you follow and its supposed to sound better then any aftermarket pipe out hteir for the sled. also it wont hurt a four stroke one bit and if you dont liek the sound you can go out and buy another stock one for 50 dollars.

Are you getting fuel? Check by running a tablespoon or two down the cylinders. Are you getting spark? Are the plugs wet? Check the killswitch. Do you see anything light up a tad when you try to start it?
