Hey glad to see this thread still alive. I was wondering what you guys thought of this deal: 2005 Polaris Fusion 900 black and red 4500 mi. crome sheild, reverse, C & A pro skis, SLP can, also have stock can, all updates runs and looks good, studded track. $2800.

I definitely want to get a new sled before this season and at $2800, sounds pretty good to me. Especially since it's basically an IQ chassis, I'll probably buy SLP hot air elimination kit and the airbox as initial upgrades. Planning on 500 to 1000 mi, depending on winter and I do about 75% trail riding. Do you guys think it'll be worth my while?
I'm not a mechanic but I'd say I have above average skills, and I don't know much about clutches.

$2800.00, is that all my sled is worth? $*!% That sounds like an awesome deal to me!

OK, there has been a lot of talk on here about pipes, reflashes, pipes with reflashes, etc. Someone once suggested the DYNOPORT pipe kit with the SLP reflash,,
I was at the Big East Power Sports show today, Talked to the Mad Scientist, Rich Daley for quite some time. Here's the facts,,,,
All numbers came from DYNOTECH,
SLP pipe kit, no reflash, +0.5 HP gain
SLP reflash, no pipe, + 2.0 HP
SLP pipe and reflash, +2.0 HP.
DYNOPORT full pipe kit, no reflash, +14 HP.
SLP reflash with DYNOPORT pipe kit, BLOWN ENGINE FROM LEAN CONDITION!!!
The T/S intake, gives decent throttle response differance but once heat under hood comes up, looses HP. This is why I am installing aluminum shields around mine to get fresh outside air through the vents at all times.
Those are true and straight numbers from 2 DYNO companies,DYNOPORT and DYNOTECH. The actual charts and read outs are avalable at dynotech.com with a membership, You can watch actual video of the tests being done.

Sounds like someone promoting thier pipe.... there's no way in the world that SLP can get away with thier pipe making 0 hp gains... they would be sued out the ass for false advertisment. Not down playing the HP gains of the Dynoport pipe.. but really.... SLP is a reputable company... I wonder how the numbers would change if SLP dyno'ed a Dynoport pipe on thier dyno.

How come, POO, DOO,Yammi and Cat don't get sued every year for printing false HP numbers, cause it is a acceptable and normal practice among both sled Mfg's and aftermarket products, Almost all can maker promise HP but almost none deliver.Been going on for years. There are so many variables to Dyno reports, temp, weather, humidity, elavation, any numbers can be explained away by Mfg's.

join dynotech and watch the video, dynotech jim is indipendent and tests for all shops and for the paying public. His results are acepted by all, reputable shops and Mfg's.

I'll be seperating the pipe from the front clutch side hood vent all the way to the vent directly above filter in hood and installing 2 3" round vents in hood directly infront of new K/N filter,Pretty much, I'm going to make it almost impossable for under hood heat to effect my intake temps. Rich says the optimum running temp for HP is 130 degrees, Anything above that it starts loosing HP. I'll post pics when complete.

Manufactures clearly state "estimated" HP. SLP has a Dyno graph and says what gain you WILL get, but I understand what your saying and agree to an extent. I've found over the years that piping a sled generally isn't worth the actual HP gains you get... in some cases ...yes... But I've found if you take a stock pipe... ceramic coat it... you will get good gains for a fraction of the money... Try it sometime.

SLP's pipe does not gain any horsepower, it is the ecm flash that gives the HP. Which is why many guys just get the new flash on their sleds and leave the stock pipe on!

Cold clean air from the outside is essential to good performance, The cooler and cleaner the air is going in, the cooler the engine will run for hours of optimum performance, Have you ever noticed that all air boxes vent to the outside? This is to keep running temps low and intake flow free of any contaminants including vapors and belt dust. My sled runs at about 130-140 with the stock box on cold days but goes as high as 165 on bad days, but since T/S was installed it runs closer to 165 on cold days and 185+ in low snow and warmer days.since I installed the K/N filter(SN-2590) temps are around,155-165,rarely but still on bad days reach 185, With cleaner, free'r access to outside air,It will run cooler and cleaner. There for, getting the most usable HP/ Performance from the machine at all times.

Cooler air is more dense that warm air, that is why you need to jet smaller for warmer temps, or the engine loads up.

The reason your engine puts out more power with cold air, is because it gets more fuel and air into the engine to produce power with. I won't get into excited atoms, but I'll give you an example.. Take an empty plastic bottle and cap it in a warm room, then put the bottle in a freezer for a half hour, and notice that the sides are sucked in because the air inside condensed.

Sled designers learned long ago that sucking freezing air from outside the sled is vastly better than sucking hot air out of the engine compartment, so airboxes pull from the outside. Unless you can keep the underside of your hood as cool as the outside, you should be pulling air from the outside.

BTW freedomrider, having ^^^ as a post, means you agree with the post above you..

I understand the cool air .I was just making a post to bring it back to the front page.
But now that you mention it, mine did the same thing with the temp. The clutches run cooler and I didn't have any more problems with the belt but the temp. did go up.
If you come up with something post it.
I was thinking about taking the filter of the T/S get some flex hose attach it to the bracket that the filter goes on. Just haven't figured out were to put the other end of the hose? I know it has to draw from the outside but were and how. Will the hose with that diameter draw enough air or does it have to be forced. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Damn, this thread got long......wonder if an admin can make a sub-forum in the polaris section for fusions??

Has anyone's plastic cracked by the front shock towers? Mine did on boths sides last year and, I'm wondering if I can plastic weld it. Anyone know what type of plastic it is? So, I can get the right rod. I'll get a pic later today.

Sleds is a 06 600.
