you need to get rid of the air box. It will save on the belts and the clutches getting to hot . The under the hood heat is a huge problem. you can take off the compartment doors by your feet and cover with screen works good. i have a timber sled intake witch dropped some pounds and let the air move around the clutches and belts. The problem I
Now i have a question
I have a timber sled intake . If I were to take off the filter and some how attach it to my console with a flex tube would that work or does it need forced air.
The idea of it is so the filter sucks cold air from the outside not warm air from under the hood.
?
help anyone?
Shouldn't need forced air, if tube is smooth and lets enough air flow pass, it should work. SMOOTH, as in no corigated restriction,

my opinion on this is that the only time you will get hot air from under the hood is while you are stopped. there is a nice opening in the hood right in front of the filter so you should be getting some nice cold air from that. Next time you are out riding go for a short run and touch the filter assembly. I'd bet that it is on the cool/cold side of things.
Polaris is my way out - Other people just use a door.

my temp went from 130-140 tops w/air box to 150- 160 170 on long rides w/out. ya . you just have to make sure there are no tight bends that will screw up air flow also. I am thinking maybe something like a radiator hose or something like that. or bend exhaust pipe and hard pipe it. that filter should be alright outside the cowel as long as i stay out off puddles Quote originally posted by triple650 Quote originally posted by 800storm my temp went from 130-140 tops w/air box to 150- 160 170 on long rides w/out. jesus, mine always stays at 126. . people always say you need to get rid of that air box when in fact it works very well. ask the poeple on snowest. it is big but o well.

Air box? With the SLP or the Timbersled air, throttle response and small hp gains are included + cooler clutch area. Why wouldn't you get one? I have a friend that threw a belt on his 700 Fusion and it took his airbox out, hence sucking belt dust!
I think it should have some kind of protection like the after markets do added with the kit. Now he is buyin' my airbox while I switch and imo upgrade to TS or SLP.

The almond spring was suficiant with stock engine but was way off once I added 14-17 HP. Once the engine was modded, the almond spring only worked good in the woods and short runs, engine would ream at7200 RPM's ,Topped out at 100 MPH. Worked great until I added the mods though. New clutch kit will bring top end up, lengthen the power curve and give me 12 second 1/4's. Quote originally posted by Ugly_old_Poo_kid

So getting the pipe first my not be the right order? I was just gonna order it this weekend, I trail ride in the UP Michigan. Picked up some VForceIII's reeds lastnight and some new boots at the head (might as well BEFORE they crack)Could expect a reasonable and manageable response with the pipe before clutching? Airbox will be Timber.

With stock clutching, not almond spring, The pipe kit will make a huge differance, It is just better with the matching Clutch kit.

Ye
May I suggest you get the clutch kit instead of the V-Force reeds, For now atleaste, V-Forces dont really make that much diff on the 900, they do help a little but the clutch kit would far exceed the performance bennies than the reeds. Your stock 'W' reeds are pretty sweet. The DYNOPORT clutch kit comes with a TEAM helix that has both, 38 and 40 degree settings, you can prioritise your daily ridding style by tuning the helix, Not to mention the perfect match the C/K and the Pipe kit are together.

From a shippy camera phone,,
So getting the pipe first my not be the right order? I was just gonna order it this weekend, I trail ride in the UP Michigan. Picked up some VForceIII's reeds lastnight and some new boots at the head (might as well BEFORE they crack)Could expect a reasonable and manageable response with the pipe before clutching? Airbox will be Timber.
With stock clutching, not almond spring, The pipe kit will make a huge differance, It is just better with the matching Clutch kit.
Talked with Dave from Dynoport just now on the phone, he's bringing a pipe, can and "Y" up here to Michigan for the Expo show next week in Novi Michigan.
Just happens to be 1/2 hr. from my house! Had to go anyways to get some goodies, perfect timing! Never know what else I might get...
Don't you mean Rich from DYNOPORT?? Congrats , you'll love the pipe kit.
Yes my bad....Rich, my buddy Dave was over at the time and I got mixed alittle.
Nice guy, doesn't mind to talk, not just sales either.
Doley noted! I have to change the "boots" between the carbs/injectors because they have small cracks on them and only want to take that apart once, that's why the VForce came into play. When I talked to Rich we disscussed that and I'll be getting that in a few weeks too. My piggy bank is gettin' brused up with buyin' 2 sleds and trailer, gear, and goodies for them ProX is finished after I put the VES back in. Then on to the 900! Yes the clutch kit will be on by Dec. 3rd fo'sho'!
He who dies with the most toys wins!
