I had my first practice last night after taking 3 or 4 years off from organized hockey. I had a great time. Looking forward to practice on Thursday night. I can't wait until our first game.
Anybody else playing hockey this winter?

I miss playing. Trying to get an intramural team going with the Army guys here. Add that to the list of sports we kick the Air Forces ass at.
Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor. Rangers Lead The Way!.."All the way!" <<<<<1st Bat, 75th>>>>>

Nope, unless he gets the urge to in the next day or so. I think that when you were up in MB sledding I ended up going to a game that night and you guys went to the bar...

We have been playing 6 weeks now. Looks like we will be in playoffs in a couple of weeks. Some guy cross checked me after the whistle in front of the crease this last Sunday. I got a hold of his jersey and took him down with me. Refs got in there pretty quick so no major punches landed. I'm not one for fights in rec leagues, but when someone cross checks you after the whistle your instincts take over.

Am I playing hockey? Why would I do that when I have these:
I just watch hockey. Live, I heckle. On TV, I watch the Canucks lose game after game. Someone has to cheer for the losers I guess...

Ha, the guy got what he had coming to him. Do you only play until New Years? or is it a split season(Fall and Spring)? Our first game isn't until November 8th I think, and we only finish our league play on Feb 14th.

The last two winters I'd go play pickup games at Waverley Heights Community Center. There were a lot of people out there considering some of the times we went it was at least -30 with the wind...

Pond hockey is a blast! Totally different then being on a rink. Different rules, atmosphere, frame of mind, etc... I really miss some of those days with the home made goals and all that cool stuff.

As of last Sunday our team finished 2nd in regular season with 8 wins, 3 ties, and one loss. Tournament starts this Sunday. The 1st 8 teams move into play-offs, so we can still pull it off and be league champs. We should have at 3 games left if all goes well.

I guess everyone will make the team and everyone is going to get plenty of ice-time this season on your team.
Do you even have a back-up goalie?

Yeah, that's me. I get kicked out of one game for fighting...
So far this year our team is 3-1 and considering it's been 4 years since I played on a team, I think it's going pretty well. I got our team's first goal of the season and every game I've played in we've won. It definitely feels good to be playing again, and even better to be winning.

I am in Bantam A's. We had our first tournament in Fort Frances last weekend. Went 3-2, pretty good start for a team that has 11 players. Beat Dryden, Kenora, and Neebing, but lost to Fort Frances and Norwest.

I didnt know we had hockey around here. But a couple kids in my class plays hockey, and my cousin in law plays hockey. I tried to learn how to skate, and i failed. Id probably fail ice skating. But ive spent many many hours playing street hockey in the neighbors driveway under the lights of the garage, their ford ranger, some work lights, and the moon. That was a long time ago. It was fun though. Now we have fires every saturday night in the summer and fall, set off fireworks, and get the cops called on us. Its nice having nice neighbors.
