For those of you who are members or for those interested in becoming members, there is going to be a group ride in Grayling, MI. This is put on by the Ohio State Snowmobiling Association and is made up by smaller local clubs, of which some of you may be members.

I have attached a handout explaining the details. Just thought I'd pass along the info. I have personally never been on one of these trips but I hear it is a blast. If there is any interest from the NE Ohio crowd we could always "sled-pool" up there.

There used to be a snowmobile club here, and the few people in it would always take a group ride up. But it fell apart. But thats the weekend we are heading up to Gaylord, so we might see yall up there.

I was not even sure there still was an O.S.S.A. any more. I used to be member, would set up at all the Fall shows, but they have stopped putting on the shows and I have not heard from them for 2 years now. Who is the president now? Our club down here fell apart about the same time.

I'm not sure about the president. I get the OSSA Magazine, I'm sure it's in there. I will have to look for it when I get home tonight. Our clubs are a little stronger because our snowfall is a little better but I think there are a few near the Columbus area.

Thanks! I know the president and a few others from the past shows I have done.
I really think they need to do a fall show or events of some form to help maintain interest for clubs in Ohio. Maybe they could even combine with Western NY, North/West PA., and Ohio to have a tri-state show? This might get them the attendance they need to pull in all the vendors, clubs, and support they need to present a show that snowmobilers would look forward to year after year?

As for the Ohio ride?... I plan to ride MI. this winter 4-sure, but as far as a club ride goes I am really banking on doing the Western NY. SF ride this year.

I tried the W-NY thing last year. Never had any snow and it ended up costing me like $200 for registration and insurance. (Not to mention gas at $4.00/gallon). I only made it up there one time and rode for about 8 hours and trailered home. Usually when there is snow up there, there is also ridable snow here in NE Ohio. So I don't think I am going to make the trip up there at this point, it just costs too much.

There is a snow show in NW PA and I think it was earlier this month. I remember seeing ads on craigslist for it. It might have been just a vintage show but I can't recall or find info anywhere.

The Treasurer for the OSSA is also the President of our local club (Montville Highlanders). Our club isn't real big yet but there are also several other clubs in the area. I am trying to get some people from NE Ohio on here familiar with just what our clubs out here have to offer and the sport will only get better with the more support we get.

You'll have to stop by on your way up to the W-NY Ride. We just might have snow and you can ride up here a little bit. You will literally be going right past me on I-90 up to NY.

I'll come up to your area and ride. That would be inexpensive.
That's funny our old president of our club "Columbus Snow Runners" was the last treasurer for OSSA.(Dale Copher)

When is everyone going up? I was planning on heading up there on Wednesdy, hopefully arriving around 7 or 8 pm. This way I get a good night sleep and can go riding all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. They way it looks around here at this time, I'll put more miles in one trip to Michigan than in the two years I have owned my sled around here (wopping 306 miles on it)!

I will be taking two sleds up but wouldn't mind leaving early Thursday and convoying up with some others rather than making the trip solo.

^^^2:22 AM Looks like someone is so excited that they can't sleep! Haha

I just booked my room last night for the Baymont Inn in Gaylord. We should be arriving Friday night and staying through Monday. I have to get in touch with Chip and those guys to see what they are all doing but it would be nice if we could all get together. I am bringing two MI virgins with me so I'm sure they will have great time. Hopefully the weather cooperates!

I hope its good for you guys. On our way to Alanson we stopped in at the Sled Shed in Gaylord because my brother needed new bibs, and there was a bunch of snow. There was a bunch of snow everywhere it seemed like. I think they are calling for some more snow this week. We rode down to Alba, and a couple people said the trails were beat up, and for the most part down there they were rough. But the farther north we went the fewer sleds and the better trails we saw. We basically rode 2-300 miles on flat groomed trails. If i can talk dad into it, we might leave Thursday or Friday and head up to Gaylord because i dont have school on the on Monday the 19th for Martin Luther King Day.

I can't make it to the ride, but please let me know when you guys plan to ride northern Ohio. I know we are suppose to get snow tomorrow, I am just getting tired of riding by myself in Ohio when it does snow.

I am on here at the wee hours of the night because this is when I am supposed to be working. Well I will be heading up there around noon Thursday and I will take the camera and get some pictures for those who can't make it. This way those that did not make the trip will see what they missed out on and will want to come next year! I can't believe I have already put 250 miles on the sled this year month, and that is just staying local. I think last weekend we rode about 96 miles Friday night and only about 30 Saturday because we ended up BS'ing at a buddys house instead of riding. I didn't feel much like riding anyways because I was fighting with my face shield frosting up making it hard to see. Soooo I went out and bought a new helmet with electric shiled. Sleds all defrosted thanks to the torpedo heater, given a once over, and ready to roll to MI now.
