Got any info on a 73 colt 295 ss? I just picked one up that cosmetically seems to be in pretty good shape, but the motor needs help. Any specs that you have on the engine would be greatly appreciated. Any ideas what company would build pistons for it?

Hi,

I need a wiring diagram for the magneto on a 1981 Polaris Cutlass SS 440. I have no spark but, I can take the CDI to another machine and it works fine. Put it back on the 440, and nothing. I replaced the Ignition/exciter coil and still nothing. Of course, I thought I put it back together the same way but, must be a wiring issue/short. If anyone has resistance specs for the ignition plug that would be helpful also.

Many Thanks,
Jamie

I have a good 488 fan cooled bottom end i would like to stick on a set of jugs from a blown 550 fan cooled unit.
Can this be possible? i have been told the bottom ends are the same except for the booster reeds.
Thanks

I am thinking that the sled may be a 1983, based on the 83 in 0831349. Since the 85 and 86 model numbers are 0851349 and 0861349.

Hi David! I'm new to this forum and have a zillion Polaris questions, but I'll go easy on you for now!...
I have inherited two Polaris FanCooled twins, early 70's vintage. One is for sure a 440 tx motor, the other is (I'm guessing) a Colt 295 motor. It looks like the 440, but it was left in the dryer too long and shrunk!
I need any and all info/specs that you have on these motors (plz) plus, if you know how a Polaris tx tachometer hooks to one of these, I'd be grateful.
Both of these motors are going on gokarts. I also have a Sachs SA2-290 (stuck flywheel and cruddy points) and a Rotax 302 single.

I have a 1974 Polaris Owners manual on Ebay for $5.00. It covers all 1974 models.
