So i got a 02 edge x 800 it has slp air box, vforce 3 reeds, slp pipe and silencer and a new 1.25 track on it. But i just fired it up this year and picked the back end up and granted it was about 45 degrees out but after it was kinda warm and i hit the gas to about 5500 rpm and let off the gas the sled would go down to about 300rpm then die out. Any ideas?

seem like a fuel problem. last year I have the same problem on my xc 800 2002(start it and die out) and when I take of my pipe, lot of injection oil came off. a oil injection valve on the base was the problem, the base was full of oil and the vacuum rubber hose from the base to the fuel pump was full of oil too.
I take off oil from the base and from the hose, and everything turn out to be OK.
maybe it's not the same problem, but seem like fuel. (fuel valve, fuel line, carbs) check it out.

Well it will start up and run and idle just when i give it gas to about even 5000rpm then just let off the throttle it will die to nothing

did you clean the carbs before firing it up this year? good plugs? will it rev past 5,000 rpm? 5,000 rpm is hardly past clutch engagement. kinda sounds like it's loading up.

Check the plugs, they're probably fouling out.

nope plugs are good, not fouling them at all, i can rev it past 5000 i could rev it all the way up but as soon as i let of the gas it will die down then stall out
i'm running standard plugs in it and they are not white and not to black
